Antiqued date run... 

A slight twist to normal....  the 1797 "cartwheel" penny and two pence were the first coins to feature Britannia as we know her today. It was the first time she was pictured holding a trident, instead of a spear and the first time she was pictured overlooking the sea and a ship.
This coin is the two pence version, 41 mm, is made of copper and weighs a mighty two ounces. The penny is slightly smaller at 36mm and one ounce.

My proof £10 Britannia collection, missing in gold: 1991, 1992, 2000, 2002, 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2012 -  present. 

My gilded Britannias in BU and Proof. Not sure how I will continue after 2013, as no gilded versions are coming out in the proof designs. 😕

I wanted representative examples of the different types of gold used:
1)      £100 Britannia, 1987, Proof – the first year of issue when 1oz of fine gold [0.9167] was alloyed with copper.
2)      £100 Britannia, 1990, Proof, PF70 Ultra Cameo – the first time 1oz of fine gold [0.9167] was alloyed with silver.
3)      £100 Britannia, 2013, experimental large and thin sized coin and for the first time it was 1oz of 0.9999 fine gold.
4)      £100 Britannia, 2018, the first time the Oriental Border was used (1oz of fine gold [0.9999]).

Two complete sets of the 2012 1 pound 1/2 ounce proof  Britannia silver portrait nine coin set in PF70. Not easy to put together and not inexpensive as well but a beautiful series. Thanks motorbikez for turning me on to this series.

This weekend in Perth we are having the Perth Money Expo. For the show the Perth mint has issued this 1oz silver Kookaburra coin with a privy mark celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Kookaburra square penny design. Minage is 2,000.
