blackadder got a reaction from 9x883 in I’ve Been Buying The Wrong Things. Need To Get Back On Track
Done the same and ended up with boxes and sets, taking up alot of room storing it all.
And most of it dives in price.

blackadder reacted to Organics in I’ve Been Buying The Wrong Things. Need To Get Back On Track
Dear TSF,
Just thought I’d share the reasons I started my precious metals buying journey, and how I’ve deviated away from my original goals.
I decided to start buying Gold and Silver several years ago, as a form of savings plan for my family and I. Specifically as a nest egg for my two small boys, who are 5 and 8. I thought by the time they’re 18 they’ll have a good amount.
My plan was to buy monthly what I could afford and buy 999 gold or silver, or sovereigns. This was working well and I built up quite a stack. However as time went on I got lured into buying more collectible and premium pieces.
I’ve realised that I’m not a collector and that I’ve been led astray from my original goals by the shiny metal. If something was to happen to me, the last thing I want is my family having to deal with getting the best price for the premium coins. I want them to be able to cash in easily and quickly if they need the cash.
So I’ve decided that I’m going to stay away from highly collectible and proof coins (unless I get them at normal bullion prices) and stick to how I started. I’ll start selling the collectibles bit by bit, and putting the funds into my original purchasing requirements.
I’ve also decided to substantially downsize my silver stack, as I have just too much, and storing it is becoming a hassle.
Just wondering if anyone else has been on a similar buying journey or if anyone has any further advice?

blackadder reacted to TeaTime in Another Royal Mint survey - About Royalty themed coins and ranges
The RM has a history of producing excruciatingly bad (and often lazily designed) modern royal themed coins that appeal to maybe 0.001% of the population.. Yet they still keep making them.
Nearly naked beautiful women* is what we want. Get to it RM.
* substitute your preference if you must.

blackadder reacted to GoldDiggerDave in Another Royal Mint survey - About Royalty themed coins and ranges
They are running out of ideas, there’s only so many spurious anniversaries, they can pump commemorative coins.
Biggest issue? Most people I come in contact with withIn the coin world know next to nothing about coins and are not remotely interested in them.
This is a lot of people who work at the RM they have x product to sell today that’s as far as their interest goes.

blackadder reacted to BackyardBullion in "special" delivery - remember that the insurance is limited!
This is a very interesting read.
https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/article-12968675/Royal-Mail-lost-3-000-gold-ring-SALLY-SORTS-IT.html
Long story short, a £3000 ring was posted and it went missing.
Royal Mail only paid £10 for the postage.
It was only by the intervention of a third party "Sally Sorts It" that the Royal Mail sent out a £2500 cheque.
Insurance is often not worth the paper it's printed on and they will always find a way to weasel out of paying.

blackadder got a reaction from Agaupl in British Monarchs series. Slow burner or flop
Maybe flooding the market with everything under the sun,and adding large markups on premium coins that already had large markups.
add the endless **** ups from the RM and poor qc.
I like the set but i bet they try to add another £5 on the next one.
It's what else you can buy for that £105 😋 they didn't release the box on time for the proof beast coins,How many customers did they lose due to that alone.

blackadder reacted to Wilburwombat in Today I Received.....
I've had a bit of a mini-haul over the festive period, please excuse the duff photo as I was in a rush.
I picked up the Coronation Coin from Martin @ Silver Trader. I'm surprised at how much I like this one, the cypher comes across really clean and crisp. From @theman73 I bought the Seymour Unicorn, meaning I am now up to date with the Tudor Beasts series. I then received the 2021 Valiant from @Webster this morning. Being new to this I hadn't heard of a Valiant before but loved the design when they were posted for sale and it looks even better in hand.
My favourite however was, unsurprisingly, the 2022 Wombat from the Perth Mint. Just the 2021 to go in order the complete the set. If anyone has one they're willing to part with, please let me know!
