A bargain eBay win- A fabulous uncirculated South Africa 5 Shillings, looks like it could have been minted yesterday 👍 

Received a nice eBay win of a Silver £5 Crown this morning- lovely design this one commemorating Her Majesty’s 90th Birthday 😃 
And after an indirect journey to me via one or two different Royal Mail delivery offices I received my SOTD which looks to be a nice example 👍 

Received this Jubilee 50p in my change today- I believe the RM dropped them into circulation only 11 days ago- this poor example looks like it’s been circulating for several years!
Also today, another colourised Silver ‘A Portrait of Britain’ Set- this time the 2016 issue.  







 

Met with @SilverMike yesterday to pick up my spoils from the latest releases before he invoiced me for storage charges 😂

The Jubilee issues are splendid, the Bergdahl design looks like it was designed with the 50p in mind, and the 50p set with the different Obverses is one to treasure.  Also note the nuance of the inscribed edge of the £5 Crown and Piedfort as opposed to the .999 Milled Edged 2oz coin.
Also a nice clean 1946 George VI ‘last of the Silver coinage’ set and an uncirculated Churchill set. 
 






 

Nice eBay win.  A 1950 Proof issue of King George VI coinage.  Only three Proof sets issued throughout George VI reign, the Royal Mint issued this as a commemorative of the mid- century.
Nice heavily toned and untouched set. 
 

Two lovely £5 Silver Proof Crowns arrived today 😃 
And a 2022 Premium Proof Annual Set. Out of stock everywhere now that I bought the last one at issue price from The Britannia Coin Company 😥 






 

I very much like the farthing too, my 1953 Proof example has lovely colourful toning.  I think Bronze & Copper coinage is often misguidedly overlooked, there’s some very interesting lower denomination coinage out there.

For those not familiar with Bronze coinage, some early Farthings  were chemically 'Blackened at Mint' to help prevent the Farthing being passed off as a Sovereign.  There were apparently, some escapee's! Here’s my 1902 Farthing.

The Third Farthing is also interesting.  This 1902 was the smallest coin issued by Edward VII and although pretty consistent for Victoria coinage, the Third Farting was made for only one year for Edward VII- 1902.

 
A Farthing was 960 to the pound therefore, there were 2880 Third Farthing's to a Pound.  Although legal tender and used in Great Britain, they were mainly made for use in Malta and Ceylon where the cost of living was much less.  
The mintage of the 1902 Third Farthing was a tiny 288,000 and for those who are keeping up, that equates to just £100 Pounds worth of this denomination being minted!

And continuing my efforts toward a Queen Elizabeth II post Decimalisation run of Crowns/£5’s, some of the more difficult and low mintage issues, all bought from an Italian eBay seller- less than 48 hour delivery from Genoa!  I particularly like the Portraits of Britain set and the Victoria Memorial/ Buckingham Palace is extremely nice. 
And thanks @Facey1 for the Prince Phillip commemorative.









 

Received over the last few days- the Maurice Bull 7th Edition reference book will be helpful and the Michael Day book makes for a nice narrative and history of the English Silver Crown- these purchased at the York Coin Fair. 

Thanks @DuncanWylieWilson for the belated post of the Southern Rhodesia Crown, I actually received it several weeks ago and put it down ‘somewhere safe’ shortly after receiving it- found in the biscuit cupboard 🙄 
Also thank you @PapaLazarou for the Piedfort Prince Phillip Crown- he looks extremely distinguished in this portrait, and thanks to the Capt’n @CaptCaveMan for the Sovereign trade- and the Jubilee/ Anniversary Crowns from an antique shop and eBay.

The Sapphire Jubilee is a duplicate- but also a lovely design as is the Century of the House of Windsor.
And taking the rough with the smooth in this batch- a design monstrosity of the Royal Wedding.

We love the French! An Entente Cordiale Crown & some Jubilee stragglers- the 1/4oz Gold is lovely 😊
And a Monarch also dropped by today.
Phew, the Jubilee arrivals conclude my Platinum Jubilee coin celebration- lovely coins, each and every one of them 😃

Oh wow. I've never seen that coin before and now I wish I hadnt. Thats a shockingly bad rendering of her. Cant believe someone signed off on that!!
