  1. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afghanistan–China_border Handy little pass they have ready to go.
  2. I can imagine a deal with the Chinese though for mining rights in exchange for infrastructure such as rail, buildings, roads etc. If they can protect the Chinese workers such a deal should go quite well. A Country with a GDP of £20 Billion a year (£8 Billion of which was Western foreign aid) and which is banning drugs, will need new industry and selling off their assets and land to the Chinese like Africa has is the easy option. It will fill the pockets of those at the top of the pyramid in Afghan whilst keeping them in power as voters feel life gets better with better 21st Century “stuff”. 🤷‍♂️ It will be interesting to see things pan out. I think the Taliban know they need access to modern tech and need to be modern to keep control. Keeping ISIS at bay is their main problem now, civil gorilla style war could be coming. Power vacuums don’t go well.
  3. USA keeps the gold in vault, China gets access to the minerals, nice 👍🏻
  4. Pop old scratched bullion sovereigns in your kids bag with plastic play money and a few fakes. If customs enquire give them one of the fakes 😂
  5. Indeed! Also I wondered if the £100 = 1oz of gold Britannia gold could be used as part of this £10,000? You can take notes up to £10,000 so maybe 10 x £100 gold coins just equates to £1,000 🤔?? I wouldn’t want to test this theory out. That’s why I also like bullion sovereigns. Just throw them in the coin wallet with the rest of the foreign currency. They are small enough. Also, how about wearing the gold brits around your neck within a gold gold holder on a chain 🤔 You might look like Mr T but in the end it is jewellery. 😂
  6. Thailand 22-23ct and very close to spot price as it is traded back and forth, so it is classed more like bullion jewellery, it won’t be perfect like new necklaces but new can be bought at a slightly higher premium. Also, as I live in Manchester, there are Asian gold shops that also sell 2nd hand wedding gift style gold that has been traded in etc. A few shops on Cheetham Hill have stock if you are in the North. 🤷‍♂️ But anywhere with a bug Asian community will have a jeweller with low premiums on high credit gold jewellery.
  7. Yep, for proofs Secursus will cover them as they are classed as “collectibles”.
  8. Secursus (French Co. but I’m not that bothered) will cover any Proof silver gold or platinum coin up to £90k as long as posted signed for and tacked. So I send abroad using RM Worldwide signed and tracked (the cheapest one with least insurance) + Secursus 3rd party top-up insurance. They class proofs as collectibles. They might also class graded bullion as collectible too as they are not just bullion minted coins once graded. Here is what they replied to my email querying gold silver and platinum proof coins:
  9. Wait and try to get the Royal Mint offering. If you succeed great, if not buy an Alderney (or other mint) copy 1-3 months down the line for much less than the dealers were selling them on release. Hold the line and wait. The RM versions will always do well. You won’t fail to find them on FB groups or eBay.
  10. The holders “own” the gold. US have some leverage still then 😆
  11. 👍🏻 Could they use the same coat of arms on the upcoming Sovereign too? 🤔
  12. Which side though? Both sides on one makes it a medal not a coin 🤔 Saying that they could produce a medal instead. They’ve done it before (Waterloo).
  13. Maybe cut through it to ensure it’s not gold-wrapped tungsten? XRF may not go deep enough to prove to the contrary. The wrapped tungsten bar I saw was feom China 😱
  14. No please don’t 😉 Someone will come along now and prove I’m wrong 😂
  15. It’s just been put in the holder off-centre. The one for sale on eBay is straight.
  16. Hopefully they’ll cut the mintages of each in half to make up for it 😉 Very nice coins 👍🏻
  17. Welcome. 👋 Every marathon starts with a single step 👍🏻
  18. I was waiting months and months for the Elton John 5oz. I’m not sure they had the allocation they sold to me. They gave me a credit note when I got miffed off (and I’m as laid back as they come) so I bought other stuff instead but I won’t be pre-ordering with them again. They blamed RM supply issues but everyone else seemed to get their coins. I even thought they were buying them on the secondary market like eBay to then send to me 🤔
  19. 😂 I just got a new sun from someone using a real name, so I’m guessing that’s not you 🤔 😆
  20. They spend millions on the opening ceremonies and then give out this tat. They should do smaller versions made of precious metals to go with the big medals 🏅 but I guess the winners do quite well from advertising these days too
  21. Yep, never mind north and south, it’s red or blue that’s the main point in Manchester. Wouldn’t pee on a Blue if he was on fire 🤣
