Well the guy at the shop exchanged the sovereign for another one (genuine this time) and said it was just worn out but still weighed the same 🤦

As pointed out by dicker, surely you can't be in the business and not have the most basic and important skill; being able to tell a genuine coin from a fake!

A good ending for my friend who has now learnt his lesson.

Hi all, a friend of mine purchased two Sovereigns from a local dealer and the detailing on the back of 1 of them looks unusual. Not being an internet user, he asked me if I would mind posting a couple of pictures here and asking some of the experienced collectors and stackers to cast an eye over it. 

I have a half decent collection myself but can't recall any Sovereigns I've come across having this kind of blurred effect on the picture detailing. Could general handling and usage have caused this kind of wear?

Any help or advice much appreciated and thanks in advance!
