Today my wife bought me a 1911 half sovereign whilst in town today. Quite pleased with it

We've been here before.You could look at it as a buying opportunity however it could be a falling knife for a while.Depends who you listen to.The thing is we all know that paper money is doomed at some point in the future otherwise we wouldn't do what we do.On the other hand the majority of people aren't aware of this fact.Most people don't even know how "money" read euros,pounds,dollars etc. Is created so until a significant number of people wake up and no longer accept monopoly money we are in a paradigm of government backed central bank issued paper.The fact that they have used this "money" to buy politicians,media,etc. Means at least for now the majority know something is wrong with the way the economy is but can't put their fingers on it.You can't blame them as when was the last time the gold standard or money creation was taught in schools,colleges or universities?The mainstream news won't discuss it as,as we have seen with Brexit,Trump etc they have their bias and will continue to peddle the fact that debt doesn't matter and if the government stopped defecit spending noone would vote for them!So I'd rather have some than not because at some point in the future it will be "worth a lot more than it is now" when that point is who knows?I can't see it being more than a decade but thats just my opinion.If your looking at making a quick buck look somewhere else other than gold.If you want to preserve a bit of wealth for the inevitable destruction/reset of the money sytstem we have coming put a bit of gold/silver away somewhere safe and don't think about price in paper as sooner or later it will be measured by a different yardstick maybe,possibly,could be,who knows.
If you just like collecting then fine do that just for the fun of it!

Received my first ever silver delivery today; 10 Maples, 5 Kooks, 5 ASE all 1oz 2016.

Interesting to see that Kooks came in individual capsules, ASEs in their zip locks and Maples freeballing in a tube.  That must be saying something about how Maples are regarded?

I see no point in selling at these prices unless you need the money for something else or you're convinced the price will tumble again and let you buy back cheaper.
With the way things are geo-politically and economically, gold either still has a long way to go upwards or we will see lower prices to buy at before it goes up.

So can I ask the obvious question: are any of us actually selling our gold at these prices? Or are two factors holding us back - the feeling/hope that the price will shoot even higher,  or second, that we are actually collectors and too attached to sell? 
I am basically kicking myself for not having backed up the truck in the autumn of 2015 (when £750 seemed expensive / ounce!). eBay is notorious for not really reflecting spot ..so there may still be some real value available right now. That's my thought anyway. 

Just watched Janet Yellen say she was 'surprised' about continued low oil prices, negative interest rates and recent foreign currency devaluations - aka she has not got a clue what she is doing. Makes me wonder if she will come to the markets rescue/smash gold this time round and if she does will people even take the bait? Combine the FED's incompetence, a confirmed technical bear market in stocks, negative interest rates and low bond yields with 'gold is the best asset of 2016' headlines and it looks like this year could be a bit different for gold. Gold hit £872 earlier which is higher than the peak of last year and last year it started from a higher price point. The chart since December is impressive.
I'm not buying any more at these prices though I have been spoiled by £731 an ounce delivered. I do miss £700 gold. There's still a central bank's chance we will see it again before the year is out though, still some hope left

1/2 kilo mouse arrived yesterday a bruiser & extremely rare.

Size comparison with Kilo proof dragon,diameter is the same just thinner

And finally compared to a couple of 10 ozers which are bruisers themselves.
