  1. 2012 Proof Lunar Dragon 3-coin set (from atkinsons), 2008/2009 1/10 Britannias proof, 1864 Shield back sov.

Love the sovereign, just getting "into" them and really happy with this one at what i paid for it, though someone please tell me if condition sucks so i know for the future what is the right price to pay @sovereignsteve:). It does look much nicer in person, still getting used to this camera and getting the lighting right for gold to show off its colour

I wouldn't touch 1/10th's or quarter sovs with a barge pole. Modern tat, bought by people with more money than sense. The Royal Mint must love anyone buying gold this way. Rubbing their hands all the way to the bank. ...Although if you can buy for a few percent over spot, then like any gold, snap em up.

However, for the same money as a modern quarter sovereign, you can easily buy a Victorian shield half sovereign. In my opinion a much much better buy, and will keep it's value much better than the modern stuff.

Where I agree that paying RM prices is ridiculous, as you say if you can collect something or stack for close to spot, especially for fractional it seems to be a no brainer because of how liquid they are compared to 1oz.

If I could buy 1/10s for 5% over I would dump a ton of cash into them, but you can't. At least not easily

Personally I like the 1/10 Brit proofs, currently averaging £110 each I am more than happy, just wish some others were as affordable!

Yay.  We've just dipped below £1k

Uh huh, I do like trusting my gut :D

Quite a bit more to come off here now i think that the bounce was so weak and we broke the physiological figure

Yesterday was very silly on eBay and I failed to buy anything... All the early sovereigns pre 1838 I wanted went for way more than my budget. So I am investing the momey from my eBay sales into a new buy to let ))

Did you get charged any tax when it arrived?

Nope, they somehow get them to a UK warehouse and delivery by DPD so there aren't costs to the consumer:

United Kingdom - We ship via Royal Mail, DPD or Yodel from our warehouse in the UK. All prices you see on our site are final, there won't be any additional fees to pay when the product arrives.

epic!, of course it won't come with a Sony UK warranty, but they are pretty worthless anyway. Their customer service is some of the best i've ever encountered, from turnaround to receiving pictures of the item as its package and shipped. Some UK businesses should take a leaf out of their book.

I will be getting the a6300 in the summer. How do you like it. I bought the Sony zeiss 16-70 lens but don't have a body yet((

Seeing as its my first "proper" camera i don't really have enough experience to compare it against something else, but its bloody brilliant! The 11fps shooting is like a machine gun, and the focus is just incredible. Overall the specs are pretty fantastic and i expect it'll last me many years

I will say that i picked it up with the kit lens for 809, compared to retail 1100. Shipped it from hong kong via e-infin.com, i would highly recommend them. Though with brexit its no longer quite the deal because of exchange rate.

I'm just trying to decide on a nice (not too expensive) marco lens for coin shots!

I think the royal mint has some explaining to do personally, they put out premium silver product that to be frank are not fit for purpose! I bought 2 tubes of the lunar horses and half of them have spotted, bit of a joke..

God please no, i have those also! The only one i've noticed so far was 2014 brits with lunar horse privy, and i've posted pics of those on another thread, you've likely not seen coins so bad.

Finally picked up a tube of the Queen Beasts.  Some are already spotting and although a great design it is let down by the quality of the mint.  Really glad I waited for the price to settle and managed to pick these up for £32.50.

Like @ApisMellifera I grabbed some Lighthouse Everslabs to house them since they're cheap.  It is a very tight fit and where the slab touches the coin the plastic domes ever so slightly.

I collect the Call of the Wild series but spot has been too high to buy the latest 2016 Roaring Grizzly so cashed in some Bitcoin now that it's finally back up to ~£400.  Thought I'd add a 8g Panda since I was already paying for postage.

Bought from Bitgild but shipped by EPM Trading (Coin Invest/STG parent company).  Not sure if Bitgild is owned by the same people or whether they just have a drop shipping arrangement.

Nice! I have the 2014 wolf version of this, lovely!

I use bitgild a lot, i'm pretty sure they do resell for coininvest as i mentioned in another thread I let them know when STG has the beasts in and they put them up for me, Wouter is a cool guy :)

Opening up as in the seals coming away or air getting back in.  In either case, it would seem that your machine is faulty as it is not creating a good seal.  I returned my first sealer as I had a issue part way along the sealing rod where is there was a mm or 2 where it wasn't creating a good seal every time.

Make sure the end for sealing is smooth without crumbling or creases and if you're sealing without excess then you may want to prop up the tray to level it with the sealer.

Hmm, what do you mean without excess?, i used the larger roll that came with it and had plenty of spare at the end for sealing, i think thats what you mean.

I can't actually tell where the air got back in, whether it was the heat sealed part or some small hole on the bag, really hard to tell. Guess i'll try a few more and then return to amazon if they are all the same, i have sealed some kilo coins and tubes and they seem to hold, though another 2 coin one didn't :S

  11. A gold 2016 1oz Angel - Isle of Man

They pretty much strike them to order at morning fix +8%, can't be bought anywhere else that i can see right now apart from the mint. Though mintage is unlimited I think they'll be very low because they only order a large amount of blanks upon receipt of bank transfer (if some dealer was to place a large order for example), usually they just have a handful to limit exposure.

Finally joined the Panda tray club.  Couldn't put off the 2016 much longer with us already half way though the year.

Silica Gel pack and Anti-Tarnish pad at each end and then vacuum sealed ready for long term storage.

I tried to vacuum my sheets but they kept opening up by the next day, tried 3 times! Any tips?

That area of the coin seems to take a beating in the tubes.

Another reason why they should have used the older 20oz tubes. I have quite a few tubes of these unopened. I'll worry about it in a few years

Lucky it arrived at all with Yodel. I would have thought that 100,000 mintage from a specialist private mint creating product from a tiny island would be about 80,000 more than it should be to be short of supply in a few years.

There is very little appreciation in pobjoy minted coins unless very special and at 100,000 they will need to really capture stackers imagination.

I think these coins are amazing, i bought a sheet. I haven't seen many other bullion coins this good, they really are nice.

I also have a 1995 5oz high relief Angel (mintage 1000 i think), its probably one of my favourite coins and took me an age to find one, got it for 120quid too! so maybe i'm slightly bias :D
