Yep, feels a bit moody to me. Free market etc and everyone’s out to make a profit but it’s how I feel about trying to get tickets for gigs when you can’t buy direct and end up paying loads more via resellers etc. I don’t begrudge them making profit as a business but just wish the end consumer stood a better chance of buying in the first place

    2007 Quintuple Sovereign
Photographed at various angles.  I'm not very satisfied with the edge shot (first pic).  Just looks weird and distorted to me.  I was hoping it would show some depth, which it does to an extent.  I may have to play with the lighting some more, to brighten the coin's edge.  I do like the face lighting though.  Thoughts?

We was always going to get something different for the Jubilee of our longest and likely last Jubilee of her reign……Fact and we all would be up set if they did nothing.

the Memorial was squeezed in there and already had been signed off in her reign.  (A truly stunning £5 in hand). And no way was I missing a new proof sovereign with a new monarch.

And…..now it’s the coronation and we have gone back to the George and the Dragon with a coronation obverse…….what’s not to like about that.

I think and hope it the sovereign cools off a bit and we go back to normal for a few years…….saying that I would like  shield back bullion sovereigns with die numbers

I would stay clear of commemorative proof coins that sell at high premiums.
I have direct personal experience with beautiful ( some very low mintage ) FDC condition gold Britannia and Sovereign boxes sets.
When I wanted to sell these sets I found it very difficult to find buyers willing to pay more than bullion prices.
I also spoke to main dealers that had exactly the same sets advertised with premiums often approaching 100% but they would not even buy at spot price at the time.
You can get attached to a set of coins believing they will retain value because you paid a high price or it is a very limited coin or set.
Unfortunately when you are selling you may not find others sharing your views so will be extremely disappointed.
Just my viewpoint but you did ask the question inviting comments.

A good metric would be is how many hours do you have to work per sovereign year on year.  It will be different for some as income change.
In 2017 the average wage is estimated to be £28,795 in 2023 its £33,000.
In very broad terms £200 a sov in 2017 thats 143.9 sovereigns per year top line the average wage paid
today £405 a sov in 2023 thats only 81.4 sovereigns per year top line of the average wage paid
works out a 43% pay cut  for  renumeration.paid in sovereigns (and this is factoring in you have had  pay rise over the last 5.5 years WTF!)  😳
this is very broad but when you factor in other costs ie cost you more to get to work, fuel, train, food, and you have much higher living costs than 2017, the pound has lost well over 65-70%+ in only 5.5 years.
1872 hours worked in 2017 13 hours worked top line per sovereign
1872 hours worked in 2023 22.99 hours worked top line per sovereign
Now back to work slackers before you are working a month to buy a sovereign!
EDIT......For you to have the same work-hour gold ratio then the average wage today need to be £58,279.50p to keep buying gold sovereigns at the same rate 143.9 per year

If they are selling at issue prices, I’m pretty sure it’s a mistake and they would have canceled any orders placed.
If they have obtained them from the secondary market and are reselling them, that would be fine, but then I think they’d sell them at a higher price than issue price.
Who knows what the heck they’re up to though!
Hence my wariness about the Coronation coin range on Monday whose max mintages they have not released (when the info was mistakenly published on the website).

I think the SOTD sovereign will go nicely with the Jubilee proof and the memorial proof to create a set of 3 spanning the handover from one monarch to the next. Nice triple to hold I think
