There is a place for everything. The way I see there is a place for gold, a place for physical cash and a place for a saving account.
For example, you need an emergency fund in case terrible hit the fun and you need them NOW, do you want to have it in gold? How quickly could you convert it? And when do you intend of using those funds? Is that something to save for your retirement or is it for a project in the next 6/12/18 months? Could you maybe get a better return in the short term just by shoving them in a saving account and save yourself the aggrievance of looking for gold for a good price, having it shipped and having to resell it a year down the line?
There isn't a magic answer, we all have different requirements, only you can find out how to match yours.
The best solution I can offer is to stop overthinking, deal with it one step at the time and tailor the plan as you go along.

I don't have gold as an investment, I have it to store wealth as I have more faith in it than in fiat
I mostly buy sovereigns as I have a personal preference for them, but I am happy to buy larger coins, I like the 1oz Royal Arms for example.  I store wealth in gold and sell it when I need fiat, for example a large portion of my stack was sold in the last three months of 2023 as I decided I need to pay down my mortgage.  I sold all sorts of different gold, from 1/4 sovereigns and 1/10oz Brits up to 1oz coins, though 80% was sovereigns.  I did not really struggle to sell anything even in a depressed market, though a few bits needed to be put up a couple of times or the price dropped.  I never take into account what I paid for a coin when I sell as it is counter-intuitive, I only ever look at what fiat I need to raise and what I need to sell based on current prices to achieve it, I then sell either what is popular at that time or what I can most easily be parted from.  I will also sell sometimes when I do not need to, this is to make sure I maintain my reputation and feedback as a seller on this and other platforms, and to give me more capital to go coin hunting.  I also take this into account when I buy, so I do not only concentrate on what I love (Victoria Young Head sovereigns in case you were wondering) but I also try and buy a variety of different things and what I think will sell well should I need fiat in a hurry.  Makes for an eclectic stack that's for sure.
Because of my recent sales my current stash is barely worth paying for a lock box, but now my mortgage payments are reduced it also means I can spend more per month replenishing it, happy days

Gold is not an investment tool. It is a hedge for preserving wealth. The buying power of gold has been constant for the past 4 centuries or so. It is the fiat currencies that have been losing their value/buying power hence the increase in price of a troz of gold (in relation to fiat currencies).

This is sad and as a seller this situation is always at the back of my mind when posting anything of value out.
This is why I do not mind if it takes an extra day yo arrive, the most important is that it does arrive.
Hopefully it will turn up as money can  not replace the lost ring.

    Yes.
Jordan an Egypt held the West Bank and Gaza after 1948 and either could have unilaterally declared a Palestinian state in those areas. Neither did. And today Egypt refuses to allow gazans to seek asylum in Sinai. You don’t need to listen to ben Shapiro.. they say it quite openly themselves with every chant. But some people just don’t listen.

Donald Trump will win the Iowa caucuses, according to projections from the Associated Press, giving him his first victory in the race for the 2024 Republican nomination.

They want it "from A to B" (and I won't repeat that abominable curse) and nothing in between. It's that simple.
The 1947 was rejected by powerful neighbours who wanted neither states. The said neighbours since realised they'd better keep out and leave the doors solidly shut behind them.
You should also watch the Oxford Union debate by Ben Shapiro, a simple YT search gives it, and he said it pretty much conclusively.

They bought nearly twice that much from Gordon Brown when he announced he was selling it, and crashed the price. Can't wait for a labour government next year. Should give us a buyers market before they put the final nail in the economy and trans all of our kids

Whilst I understand the cynicism re US foreign policy and the methods used to get American people on side, in reality, there are some very nasty people in the world and not just in the western deep state.  One look at the Houthi flag says all you need to know.  "God is the greatest, Death to America, Death to Israel, Curse the Jews, Victory to islam".  They're an unashamedly genocidal mob, who've gotten way too big for their boots.  The west has been busy ignoring them for years, but play silly games, win silly prizes.  Ask the Yemenis outside Houthi controlled areas what they think of them?  They're currently praying for them to be bombed into oblivion by the great Satan.
Edit: any big moves in gold due to conflict, are only going to come if Iran gets involved.  So far that looks unlikely, so I don't think this is having any impact at all on the gold price.

I know, we could simply use the patrol boats sent to escort them here and escort them the other way instead, just having a laugh hinting that we don't have any functional navy, some times I like to take it easy, else I'd be here all day screaming "inflation" every time anyone comes up with a fantastic explanation for the price of gold going up.
The problem won't be solved, but they'll announce a magical solution, which obviously will not be implemented, because they need more money, or Voldemort is back, or something like that.
