As I live in Belgium were we have no VAT on silver coins I can buy my silver in the cheapest shop in Europe: Goldsilver.be and without VAT. That's the only reason I still stack silver next to gold. The day I have to pay 21% Vat extra on a coin with already a premium around 20-30% I will only stack gold any more. Silver has potential but starting with a loss of around 50% is crazy, knowing with gold it's around 2-4% over spott.

Great gift if you are a collector and the coin just looks great too. Cool that your girlfriend support you in your hobby.

Looks great, do you have an idea of the date because you speak of a historical piece ? The number 1000 makes it special that's for sure.

Who buys gold bars of 1gr ??? Even if your budget is not big, buy a LMU coin with a premium of 2,5-4% or as you Britts like, a Sovereign. I think you have to compare apples with apples and not with oranges. Compare the premium on a 1 ounce silver Krugerand with his one ounce golden brother and than you have a correct comparison. ( and with the silver one you have to add VAT extra in the UK )

I think both gold and silver will have, again, a difficult year if there is no big news like a war with Russia or a new variant of Covid that kills too many people ...

The premiums in general on silver are crazy if you compare them to gold but when you sell them, you can recuperate a good portion of it in most cases. If you go for silver coins with an extra high premium you can have the bad luck that when you sell them they will just be priced as a standard BU coin. In my eyes, gold is a safer investment, but having also silver is more for the upwards potential it has. But stacking now for almost 10 years, it changed my opinion on silver coins with higher premiums and I try to avoid them, how good they may look and try to keep buying only the cheapest BU coins or junk silver.

If you know all the charges a seller has to pay on e-bay, you know you are screwed most of the time ... Just visit a LCS or look at the section on this forum.

This discussion was already done in an other topic, if I remember correct, you will probably be screwed by the customs ...

I think that reaching a high of 40 USD this year must be possible but I think that at 31-12-22 the price of silver will be lower than now ...

I read that you, just like me, had no bad experience but I thought you maybe knew some of the issues the members who complained had because you mentioned them ?

Can you tell me more about this bad experiences ? I am buying at Goldsilver from 2013 and never had a problem so I am interested.
