  7. Welcome on this great forum, it will be a place were you will learn a lot more about collecting and stacking ! For me, Goldsilver.be is the place to be, lowest prices in Europe and a great service.
  8. You forget one key aspect, the "demand" and what people are willing to pay for something. If people want to pay 1800 USD/ounce for gold but only 23 USD/ounce for silver, that's just the price. Miners often sell with losses because the market price is lower than yhe production cost.
  9. I would go 100% into gold, Krugs or Maples. Sell your silver you have now or put it in a fault at your UK bank but don't travel half of Europe with it.
  10. Like I was saying ! Thank you for your testimony Sid 😀👍
  11. Ok, now I get it why you want to do it but you know there are also invisible markers on the market, you can mark your bars with a marker like that. If, and I say if, the police would find your bars, it's easy to proof that they belong to you without damaging them. Just an idea. 😀
  12. I think your idea is not so good for when you are going to sell them in the future ... Why would you want to put a number on them ? Just by opening them, you can have them go milkspotting or tarnishing, ( even when you keep them intact it may happen ) so that's a risk you will always have.
  13. I got sacked 3,5 years ago after 20,5 years, that is correct but not for that reason ... Because before the Brexit deal was done and the new EU rules for the import of smaller amounts from this year was voted, ( to counter aliexpress and co ) the demand of customs employees went always down because most was just automated and there was much more free trade. Now there is again a spike in demand but I have an other/ better job, so be it. But is there nobody here on this forum, living in the UK, who imported silver since the Brexit and knows you also have to pay import duties and vat ??
  14. There are always import taxes when you buy something outside your economic union, what in the case of the UK the UK is. When we buy something in the UK we also have to pay import taxes and on those taxes you have to pay VAT. I think I know it better than you, I worked on the customs department of a big courier firm ... Look at the post of Fadeingstar, he is from "Engeland" and also mentions the import duty. And if you don't believe me, ask BYB or your local tax office ...
  15. I would go to a local jewelry or you can look at ebay ...
  16. Yeah, the French really like the Germans ... 🤣 I would choose Irish ...
  17. I think you forget the import taxes, it's not only vat you have to pay. I know that probably the cheapest bullion dealer in Europe, Goldsilver.be has even stopped shipping to the Uk for the moment because the British customs department is so difficult ...
  18. I think it are these: https://air-tites.com/collections/air-tite-coin-holder-tubes
  19. So if you believe something is not manipulated it is stupid to invest in ???? I invest in silver because I hope there will be a larger industrial demand in the future what will make the prices go much higher.
  20. @HawkHybrid: I could not say it better ! You have a clear view on the situation concerning silver.
  21. Those other commodities are traded also on "paper" markets, you should check how many times a barrel of oil is traded before it's get delivered at a refinery ...
  22. With only a budget of 1K, stay away from silver and buy golden sovereigns with the lowest premium over spott price. Don't buy proofs or special numismatic edition's.
  23. No fancy story, I started buying it as a diversification of my portfolio ... Because of the so high premiums, even on BU coins, I don't see silver as a hedge for inflation but that task is for gold. I see silver as an investment and the joy of having the coins. At the end it is still a terrible investment but maybe one day ...
  24. I started in 2013, I wished now I only bought gold but maybe one day I will be happy I also have a lot of silver ...
  25. All those people who stay saying the price of Pm's are so manipulated ... Just look at the gold price the last 10 years, it went up with more than 50%, silver did almost nothing. The market makes the price, in every market there is some manipulation but at the end the demand and the availability makes the price.
