I don’t mind buying the odd proof on this site but I just can’t bring myself to buy them from the royal mint. I worry that I will get it wrong and lose big time. Other than that I buy sovereign or 1/2 sovereign as I think 1/4 oz are harder for casual collectors to work out. While the members of this site will get the differences, the general public absolutely won’t. Then if I had to move them on quickly for any reason (walking into a lawn shop) I might find it a wee bit harder.

I think now is a terrible time to collect silver, I think everyone on the forum should sell, especially 10oz bars , 1kg bars and 1oz Brits, everyone should sell now, get out quickly, take whatever is offered and sell while you can. I am so committed to this as an appropriate strategy that I might give consideration to buying whatever you are selling to help you on your selling journey. just to be helpful of course. 🫣😁

I love reading all this stuff, I really do it informs us new guys, but I have got to be honest, I just buy sovereigns because they are shiny. 😁

No, I’m watching this auction, but as I have absolutely no idea how to value graded coins it’s for interest only, this could be the bargain of the year and I wouldn’t have a clue.

A lot and very difficult. I don’t know if that’s the case everywhere, but in scotland it is becoming very difficult to buy anything from an auction without having an mi5 interrogation. of course there is simple ways round it if you want to go outside the norm and that doesn’t involve breaking any laws by the way. I know that sound like a contradiction but ,,,, 🤷‍♀️

Probably, also a chap who works with me is married to a Chinese girl, her family are frantically trying to get rid of the physical dollars they own, they literally gave them to his wife to change into anything the last time she visited a couple of months ago.

Recent scottish auctions have seen very heavy buying of gold sovereigns from China, I know the auctioneer and he said it had been a very strong trend. I don’t know why but they are shipping them overseas.

I have almost totally stopped buying at auctions, you really struggle to get a bargain in any sector, not just gold and silver, whiskey and wine is mental and as for property gee whizz, it’s bonkers.

I do love 1kg bars, I normally buy the cheapest cast, but these are lovely. So a free bump in the hope that someone buys them and stops me having to look at them with envy 😂
