  1. Just wondering if anyone other than me considers not buying more than the reporting limit from any one dealer. Not that I am buying with anything with other than taxed income, but why would you want to have them reporting you to HMRC? in the US it’s any single purchase, which means they informally advise you to buy in instalments, but I understand that in the UK it’s annual spend. I buy my pm to be a wee bit “off grid “ so I don’t really welcome my purchases being monitored. Am I just being overly paranoid, or does it ever cross your mind that you buying, is being monitored?

    Random Rant

As @ZRPMssays most people don’t realise that they no longer “own” their own money once it is deposited. Spread your cash through as many different bank licensed options as possible, then consider offshore opportunities if you need to (funds allowing), then do the obvious of diversification as much as possible to mitigate your risk and exposure to any one asset class. Which I guess is why a considerable amount of us are on this forum. your stated bank experience is indicative of not only where we now are , but a good guide as to where we are headed.
  3. Hi, I kind of missed the boat on this one, if any of your buyers drop out could you give me a shout with details of the purchase arrangement as I may be interested. obviously I don’t want them to, but just on the chance that they do 👍 hi all, now sorted and don’t need any more help. As always your all a great help thx. 👍

  5. Thanks, pretty much how I feel about pm’s, not buying is daft and buying thinking you will make a fortune is a bit daft too!
  6. What paper/date was this in please?
  7. A recent scottish auction informed the buyers that the “winning” bid was from China. Almost every gold coin went to Chinese registered buyers for crazy prices. I don’t know if this was a one off or a new theme, but made the gold price bonkers ( they didn’t bid for any silver at all which went for reasonable prices.
  8. i don't comment here too often, but that is stunning
  9. Been here a wee while now, but still can’t work out where the heck the price is moving! Reading everything on here isn’t helping, your a bunch of confusing rascals, so I guess I will just have to buy a wee bit every month to flatten my average, getting guidance from you lot is too difficult 😥😂😂😂😂 meantime I keep hoping for a price crash ( unlike most of you lot) as it presents a buying opportunity 👍 But love reading you guys wafting guesses, keeps the board interesting. ps anyone (with a bit of feedback) want to sell near spot, us amateur buyers are keen as mustard
  10. I think it’s pretty easy, if you’re new why should anyone trust you, I’ve never been scammed, but I would never buy from anyone with no trading history unless they accepted payment on receipt, why would anyone. If you have an excellent record as a buyer and a new seller doesn’t trust you then , we’ll, it's not rocket science to be a wee bit careful. the reason I believe there isn’t many scammers here is most use sensible discretion. I have often seen many of the big traders with impeccable reputations refuse great deals from new members and then paying more than advertised, with payment on receipt. there are so many honourable chaps here it heartwarming.. stick with it and you will be rewarded with fair deals and great camaraderie.

    Stolen gold

Everyone has to make their own choices, but no way would I keep a gold hoard at home. People will know you collect, so best to keep it out of your house. Hiding it is useless if your home when they break in. They can just force you to open up a safe! Who would risk their safety for some PM’s, no chance.
  12. I was speaking to a chap from the Royal Mail today who was on the picket line (next door to my office). I think they could be in a fair bit of bother, a totally dispirited workforce who hate the company, an outdated business model which is bleeding cash, competition which is leaner and aggressively eating their market share and critically, a customer base which is losing/lost confidence in them. Not a great position to be in.
  13. Hey, don’t be, we have all made them, it’s not the start of your pm journey that will define you. I’ve learnt so much from this forum, my advice is buy slowly and learn a little bit quicker from the many good chaps on this forum who will give loads of free advice.
  14. I have found the safest strategy when buying on fleabay is simply, DONT BUY ON FLEABAY, just my strategy of course.
  15. If you “paws” for a moment to think about it, I’m sure the will be some “tail” you can come up with to tell how you could “ collar” someone who tries to “sniff out” you buried treasure’ or maybe I’m “barking “ up the wrong tree with my assumptions.
  16. Chubb are an excellent insurance company.with a decent safe they will insure £25k in pm’s I believe, Anything over that I can’t understand why you would want to keep it in your house,,,,,,, use a safety deposit box. silver (too blooming heavy to steal) at home and gold in a sd box is possibly a sensible idea. but each to his own I guess, a blooming big dog and a crossbow probably works pretty well 🐶😂
  17. This is a great question, to us newbies it’s a total conundrum, I’ve spent hours on trying to figure it out! then just decided I didn’t have the mental capacity for it and just decided to follow my tried and tested strategy of buying as much as I can afford every month and hoping that it flattens the risk over the long term! I do of course follow all the clever chaps on the forum buying and selling patterns with interest. 🤔👍
  18. Let’s hope we don’t join them 🫣😂
  19. Read that book, was very much worth the read. But I guess I wasn’t really shocked by it.
  20. Great info piece. Use PayPal at your peril, and leave substantial money in it at a potentially substantial risk.
  21. Always wait 15 mins before you buy anything, that way you can be sure @James32 Has sorted out all the bargains before you make a mistake, ,,,,, welcome aboard 😂👍
  22. I agree - I won't use paypal ever. They have made it clear they were prepared to take your money if they didn't like your politics, incredible!
  23. The bottom of your pond in the garden? ,,,,,, another boating accident
