  1. Absolutely love this, well done, would love to own something like this. As a boring stacker who is only just getting the confidence to collect interesting coins, this is inspiring. ๐Ÿ‘
  2. I donโ€™t think crypto is in competition with gold and silver, I think it is just another way to store wealth and diversify. It is almost certainly here to stay as too many people have not only invested in the crypto itself but major investment in the mining operations, (much like a gold mine has built infrastructure). As national governments continue to see it as a threat to tax their tax base and financial controls on the population they will continue to legislate and improvise to try to take control of it which means that we will see considerable price movements and it is very high risk, but I canโ€™t help think that itโ€™s here to stay, I also wonder if it will introduce younger investors into PMโ€™s as they look at what other options are available to them after crypto, crypto becoming a gateway to alternative wealth management.
  3. I know this is strange, but 2021 Audi A8โ€™s are currently back at ยฃ30k off list, also, incredibly, with 2nd hand cars up 30%ish in value many new electric cars such as the Mercedes people carriers are being discretely discounted! Meanwhile rolls Royce and other high premium brands are still up massively, it seams the softening is happening in the mid range assets first. There are a number of very strange price movements going on in a number of non PM markets. I noticed a lot of this kind of stuff happening in the couple of years before the 2008 crash. I think we may well be about to see a very significant economic shift take place in a number of markets and as someone who has navigated them before, I suspect most people wonโ€™t believe just how destabilising they can and will be.
  4. I agree, he is hyper resilient, which is what makes me think we may well see how this plays out, will make for some interesting viewing, will it be the slow car crash the West and markets expect, or will he defy logic.
  5. Was it not the case that a lot of US โ€œretiredโ€ intelligence officers and military personnel were found to have been implicated in the coup attempt?
  6. Ok, all logic suggests that Turkey will have to change course, but, a big but, could they benefit from low interest rates and a hyper competitive currency if they can hold it together long enough. They know that the West would probably like to see regime change so while I am struggling to see a historical precedent, it is a very interesting to see if they can hold off the economic/ political attacks and succeed. ps Iโ€™m not suggesting it will work but will make interesting viewing?
  7. For now I operate on the basis that it doesnโ€™t matter too much what happens to spot as long as I donโ€™t intend to sell, but this forum hasnโ€™t half made me realise how much the PM markets seem to be manipulated. I do believe that you canโ€™t maintain this indefinitely, eventually the market will burn those who are managing to control it, . it might take a long time but will happen. In the mean time I try to make lots of smaller purchases throughout the year to try and flatten my risk as I just canโ€™t read the movements yet! Maybe getting this wildly wrong but for now ?
  8. I think so, but having tried them for my latest monthly purchase, they were every bit as efficient as BBP and a bit cheaper. Gave me confidence to try them again. I donโ€™t mind that they show items as โ€œout of stock โ€œ I would be annoyed if they didnโ€™t and tried to fulfill an order they didnโ€™t have stock for which I understand some dealers do.
  9. As a fellow newbie (just over a year) , the advice here is great and gold is probably best, but I spend about 30% of my money on silver to spread things about a little and importantly,,, because I love how it looks ๐Ÿ˜‰ I think you have to like what youโ€™re buying if youโ€™re going to enjoy the early part of the PM journey.. just an opinion of course.
  10. Thanks Guys - appreciate the help
  11. Thanks guys, Iโ€™m mainly stacking, as I donโ€™t yet have the experience for collecting ( although I have made 5 or 6 auction purchases of collectibles) , but will take your opinions on board. can I ask, what is an SG dental floss test? I have downloaded the ping test app after reading some earlier stuff and am practicing a bit with that.
  12. For those of us relatively new to collecting the fear of being scammed is a huge disincentive to buying from anyone other than recognised dealers. I know that this site seems to be a safer place to trade but for the likes of me it is a big consideration at the moment. I am sure this will diminish as us newbies get a bit more experienced, but I kind of wish there was an โ€œidiots guide to spotting fake coinsโ€ manual! Perhaps there is?
  13. As always, hugely informative, this forum provides an exceptional resource to the new guys of the coin world. ps reading your posts on here contributed to me using Chards for my most recent purchase, thanks for the input. ๐Ÿ‘
  14. What is a wee bit shocking is that even although you know a lot of this stuff, it kind of bypasses you until you join a forum like this and pay a bit more attention to what you guys are posting.
  15. What a great listen, donโ€™t know how much is correct, but fantastic stuff
  16. I guess as I get more confident I will look at other silver options, but for now I mainly buy boring 25 coin tubes from online dealers. I have bought a few other coin packs from a couple of auctions (not coin auctions) which have proven to be my best value buys, every dedicated coin auction I have looked at seems to be overpriced! Maybe itโ€™s just the ones I have followed.
  17. Thanks, I find from no knowledge whatsoever, I now have to have a quick login at least once a day, ,,,, hooked ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜†
  18. I like this post, but donโ€™t you think there is merit in being John, good profit and for novice stackers, less risk, as I would trust I was buying legitimate product and find a resale market easier,,,,,, just a thought. So far I buy silver 1oz coins every month, but you have made me rethink my strategy. ๐Ÿ‘
  19. Thanks Jvw, do you think it matters much which membership you have?
  20. I would like to thank Mr Chard for the education we newbies get from reading posts like the above, what would take hours/days of research, condensed into a quick read, brilliant stuff ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
  21. Hi Gordy - is it worth becoming a paid (premium) member first do you think?
  22. Been following the page for a year and buying slowly since the end of last year (both gold and silver UK coins). Still a real beginner but enjoy reading others opinions on what to buy and why. I hope to start buying on this site but am being a little cautious as of now. So far 90% of my monthly purchases have been from "Bullion by Post", or auction sites - just because I am trying to be careful. Obviously welcome any free advice and am reading lots of post trying to learn from those with more experience.
