Interesting, the 1oz Silver Henry vii I sold today and the platinum QB bull that had little interest on here both went to buyers in the US, not a bad thing imo.

not sure if good or bad...  looking at it positively, it could increase the interest in Royal Mint / British coins in the USA coin market - Which is a huge market

First 1oz gold sold on ebay for £3400

So there are to be 21 in total in British Monarchs series.
2oz gold at 'current' RRP £4,775   (inevitable prices rises will no doubt occur over next three years)
Its going to cost minimum of  £100,275+ to complete the series 
Crazy when you think it like that ! that's "buy a house" kind of money in my neck of the woods !

Appearently, this series came about due to a collbaration with a partner. The reason for the graded slab to show up on NGC yesterday and 1oz gold were limit 100 in limited presention was because as part of the collaboration agreement, 500 out of the 600 one ounce would be sent directly to the partner, and they would grade them, seemingly this would be the case for all of the coins in the series,this is only the case for the one ounce though.
Apperently, another part of the agreement is that a certain proption of the coins must be PF70 for the partner. Well, I guess royal mint does know how to QC after all if them can agree that sort of terms!!

and missing 500 coins not sold as 'limited edition' by RM...
To be honest, I haven't seen slabbed coins in real, but from the photos I think they're ugly. Does anyone prefers them to just capsules?

I got the 2oz Gold and Silver. Not sure whether will grade or not. Given the number graded already I think it retains some interest by retaining the FDC charm!

If the Great Engravers hadn't done so well, Id be 100% with you. But you aren't going to pick up a (gold or in some cases silver) big proof pre-1900 for much under 20k and then thats for a beaten up veiled head proof. Also the post 1900 ones are still a serious amount of money, 1902, 1911, 1937. There are obviously some of the early milled, guineas etc that are in proof but its a niche market... this release for me is about the alignment to the modern Sovereign, when they come around.

I didn't have the balls to go for it in 2oz Gold but I know I will be trying later down the line, I did go for it in 1oz Gold and 2oz silver though 😉

Like the great engravers there's no formal continuity, but also like the great engravers if you have collected all the past ones it definitely gives you a better chance of securing one when you get put on reserve lists and speak to them. It isn't about this release for me, albeit clever what they've done and im looking forward to getting it. Wether I keep it or not is another thing. For me, im interested in the future releases, when you get to George III and the dims match up with a few outliers on the way, William and Mary, Queen Mary, Elizabeth I etc. These are going to be in proof, with the Edward VII, will they do a matt proof to match the 1902? we'll see at the end of this year, but anything from George III onwards (in monarch date order) is going to be very hot imo. These other ones we'll see.... what about a special release of Edward VIII 😅
