Absolutely correct. If the entire system failed life skills would become vital. Only a tiny minority of the uk have such basic skills as map reading, water purification, food cultivation or even knowledge about making a fire.
Lol 😂 it’s a major lesson of the pandemic.

I hope so. I really do. I don’t own crypto yet but on the next dip I’m going to diversify.

At the end of the day money is nothing more than a ledger, coins are a tokenised ledger system that need to be physically handed over. Bitcoin is an immutable digital open source ledger more secure than ANYTHING humans have yet mustered in the entire history of the World... without the need for testing methods or costly physical delivery.

Gold can become worthless if people consider it to be, like anything, if it loses its usefulness then it would become a worthless colored metal for cheap jewelry.....its unlikely but possible...same for diamonds, if lab's can make exact same but the size of emu eggs for $100 then diamonds in natural form would be useless as too small and not worth digging up or polishing.

Most of the first generation cryptos will go to zero. BTC is a CIA / NSA creation.
Gold will never go to zero - it is real money. As i said in that other thread, the new financial system will have gold at its heart. China and Russia have got around 40 000 tonnnes of gold each. They are not doing that for fun. Nations will trade using gold credits as they did in past times. Nations in the developing multipolar world are amassing gold - they're not amassing NFT's of Katy Perry.

You may be slightly reassured to learn that, from what I read, there are not so many new buyers for crypto these days, which is perhaps why the price has been stagnating recently (and it's way down from its high point of nearly $70,000 a few months ago). If there is indeed a declining number willing to be first time buyers of this version of the emperor's new clothes, then the price will do worse than merely stagnate and the whole thing will be revealed as a ponzi scheme.

I had the same thought process a while back. I came to the conclusion (with help from other members) that gold is in culture, religion, banking system. It is more than just a value of fiat. It is so inbedded in society that it will never go. I had to sell some of my gold and silver to get into the crypto space (you bought some of it) and it was quite a difficult (emotionally) it won't be a problem the other way round.

History has proven that gold has stood the test of time regardless of its value, just becuase the sentiment is now crypto becuase people have moved it out of PMs. Diversity is key in investing,

Gold will never be worthless - NEVER. Truth is like poetry, no one likes poetry. Crypto is a sentiment market. Until fiat dies, you think that all banks are just going to hedge on crypto? No chance! Yes fiat will be dead, but that crypto has be pegged against something.....

I would say no long term. Short term it's a maybe. Gold has always been a place of safety and the crypto space isn't that. I read something the other day that hit home. If you think of the evolution of the internet, from the start to where we are now. Currently we are sitting in 1998 within the crypto space, it's very volatile and a totally different beast. My only concern would be attracting the younger generation to into the metals space.

I was at an event today as a supplier & about 4 people asked if I am Vaccinated.
    Firstly is this a result of social pressure or somehting through clever conditioning;
or do these people know they have made a mistake on a weird subconscious level & want to justify it??

One woman works for the vaccination centre & started to get hoity toity  until I made somehting up.
This woman is really nice and means well & I can only see it as she thinks she is doing her bit to help.
As usual they backtrack immediately and say 'oh thats OK then, and dont ask any more questions'

I find it weird that so many random people I am coming acrosss are so involved in 'recruiting' I think there is somehting in it.
Its a bit like a religious cult or something from my point of view.
Its amazing though as its a hotel & the hotel manager said 'oh john is off with covid'
I said 'whats wrong with him them?'
    'He has covid'
'but is he ill or anything'
    'Yes he has covid'
'my point is is he dying or dead'
confused look as if I have said something stupid on his face!
    - I have to say this is the best sick card ever created - I bet tons of people are milking it!!

I wore no mask all day and was not challenged once so that was good.
I see wearing a lanyard as cop out personally, I would rather wear a mask than that - makes no odds.

On the plus side I was talking to guys over lunch & they asked.
I said I am on a clinical trial (which I actually am)
& i said they make more money from my trial than they would from cancelling it for the Vaccine  & he outrightly accepted it.
People are more than aware of the pharma corruption & understand the law of attrition vs 'health' it seems.

I need to start working on a better cover story as I am never getting a vaccination - ever.
Basically im flabbergasted that even have to do this - unbelievable, but this is where i find myself isnt it.
At least im not in a war zone with my family being raped & murdered!! We all need to consider that each day.

I don't want to sound like the massive bleeding heart liberal that I blatantly am, but sometimes I feel the disdain for this jewelry can border on snobbery.
Like someone said above, these kinds of items have come into existence as a way for generally working-class, generally low income folks to save and preserve a bit of money with the care of their family in mind, or else as a way to supplement a pitiful state pension.
In the Caucasus region, gold teeth are a way for poor people to create some kind of life insurance. They get pulled out and cashed in on death. It's a pretty good system for those without some of our privileges. But here we tend to look on gold teeth as an aesthetic abomination. You don't often see them nowadays outside of immigrant communities and maybe traveller folk.
Ironically, I saw a bloke on Dickinson's Real Deal not long ago selling his sovereign rings to pay for new dentures. It was kind of sad to watch. And not a great advert for how capitalism works for the poor in one of the world's largest economies.
