Do you mind me asking who your safe deposit box is with, because I was looking at opening one myself?  Are they nation wide?

Metro Bank in the next town to me provide safe deposit boxes but their smallest is £240 p.a.  I opened a cash account with them as the first step in getting a box, which is required to have a safe deposit box with them.  The account opening was not a smooth process, so I was not generally impressed with them.

Ideally I would like somewhere better than them and hopefully cheaper.  Any info would be welcome.

I had a metro safety box. Closed it as the 240 per year option was to small.

Got a bit of collectible silver in this week - a 2018 QB Unicorn, a couple of TB lions and a couple of Hildegards.

If I've done my arithmetic correctly I'm up to 98oz of silver now, about 50% bullion and 50% assorted Perth Mint, Royal Mint and Germania collectibles.

In related news, my quest for a source of 40.6mm caps that fit into H tubes is still ongoing.  I know these must exist because I have some of them that came with some coins, but my attempts to identify their provenance have been an exercise in banging my head against a brick wall.

There is a guy on eBay that sells them. I’ll get his name in a sec. From the USA so need to import.

Not seen a Brit at £23 for a while now, not since the bottom of the recent dip

Is a very close call on this one though if the chap is the one handing over the cash with the sovereigns.

What year are the Brits @TommyTwoShots?

    Mixture of 2019-2022

So inflation goes up to 10percent tomorrow. So theoretically the price of gold should be going up. But let’s see what the manipulators do in the morning lol.

Hopefully keep it down so I can buy more 🙂

It might be a bit controversial but the way I see it the CV stuff has been conveniently flipped to the war stuff.
Its the same problem and they are still printing & spending/throwing away the cash.
Anyhow they will screw it up and backtrack. Peace deals may also see gold get dumped by institutions.
So in theory it could be set up for pre 2020 prices, but thats not before a huge move up.

Way off topic sorry, but related.

I was going to donate a silver bar directly to a few refugees in Poland (ie hand it to them personally).
The hall they were supposed to stay in is empty & the refugees are in peoples houses.
They will only buy new clothes from the posh shops in the retail parks & eat fine foods.
They dont look traumatised in the slightest & very rude & snooty by all accounts.

I dont know the full picture, but my silver bar is staying put for now. ;)
Just read Viktor Fankls book for clarity vs guilt & the news vs reality is not reliable.

That is really generous of you. Why a silver bar? Most people wouldn’t have a clue of its value.

Component in fertilizer, look like russia have just suspended gas through the yamal pipeline.

That’s absolutely their choice. There is a massive fertiliser plant developing potash in northern England. Largest reserves in the world. We have the North Sea gas reserves, before that, we have the USA. The summer is on the way.

We should have no truck with murderers of children, those that systematically and intentionally breach international law by attacking civilians purposefully. I notice starstreak works really well. By all accounts NLAW is very effective.

Just one of many commodities Russia is wealthy in is Urea. Lets see Europe source its gas elsewhere.

Urea? A waste product of the body.

Gas is being imported from the US. No one needs Russia. Thank God.

Maybe, but China will certainly take oil,

China can’t easily use the specific type of oil Russia produces.

This value of ruble to gold is due for review in july. So Russia seems in the driving seat on how they are going to value assets the rest of the world want and especially hostile nations.

How are they in the driving seat? What assets do they have that can’t be sourced elsewhere?

I suspect there will be people here who hold:

    • Nothing
    • A single 1oz coin
    • A stack
    • Whales who hold pretty significant amounts of silver - perhaps several thousand ounces

I doubt Wales invests in silver mate 🙂
