I think you are right to be picky with what you buy, the market for modern coins is not in the place it was a couple of years ago. Its not helped by RM churning out new releases every 5 mins.
The problem the petition crown had is that its not that well known unless you are an avid collector, and TBH it looks better in silver than gold. RM were daft to release it as a 2 coin set, whether you are a silver or gold collector, it was a big chunk to pay out.
This new coin has a wel known design, it looks good in both silver and gold, and its going to be a single coin release, so my view be if this doesn't do reasonably well, nothing will in this market??

That links in nicely with another thread the great engravers, GEO III and early GEO IV sovereigns were both the work of Benedetto Pistrucci, he did the original engraving, cut and prepaired the dies himself, he was a perfectionist. The GEO IV laureate head series 1821-1825 contains no notable error sovereigns.

This looks to be F over repositioned F in DEF, typical of the type of workmanship at the Mint during the mid 19th century.
Not sure about the D FID here but again appears to be just sloppy workmanship.

This is a Large 'O' type sovereign, the '6' is misaligned which common on a lot of 1860 sovereigns.

Gold will be over subscribed and will be on ebay at a premium within minutes I reckon.
Silver will also do well.
