  2. I guess if Disney cartoons are fairytales for children, then asteroid mining would be fairytale for grown-ups 😅

  4. Hello! Welcome to the forum 🤗 This is a good place to discuss anything about precious metals with like minded collectors and stackers 👍
  5. Yes, I remembered reading about this chap with his gold shirt. Sad to hear he has died. But was showing his gold that got him beaten to death as you seem to imply. The article says "police suspected the motive could have been a dispute over a money transaction."
  6. Thank you very much. I will gladly accept any awards 😁 A Happy and Peaceful New Year to all members
  7. As I keep saying, people in Asia understands and value gold far more than people in West. In some Far Eastern countries, people prefer their gold jewellery in 999 fine gold. In weddings, giving gold as gifts is very common or even expected from close family members. When a bride is from an affluent family with nice gifts, this could happen.......... 😂 (....at least she doesn't think her gold will become worthless one day !! 🤣)
  8. Time for you to exit out of metals !?
  9. This is known in the trade as a genuine fake !! 😊
  10. The image of the Temple of Heaven is rough and horrid. I guess when you have a collection of silver pandas and have examined them closely in detail, then through experience it is not hard to spot fakes. This is known as visual identification. ☺️
  11. Definitely a fake. The Temple of Heaven side of the coin is a dead give away. Also, examine it closely you won't find 10 元 (10 Yuan) above the Panda, which is where it should be on a genuine coin.
  12. Is it worth a punt as it is so rare !? 🤣
  13. I think it was only the small denomination silver coins (i.e 3d and 6d) that were produced in both types of silver alloy (.500 and .925) in 1920. The larger coins were all .500 silver I believe. In any case, sterling silver (925) tends to be whiter in appearance. Whereas 500 silver has a more greyish tone.
  14. According to LPM, both the Gothic and Three Graces have a mintage of 50 for the 2kg silver coin. Anyway, the Three Graces is now out of stock. I guess it was such a bargain at £29K and it got snapped up quickly ! 😂
  15. See if you can get them to knock off a fiver, then it'll be a no brainer !
  16. 2021 2Kg Great Britain The Great Engravers Collection - Gothic Crown Quartered Arms .999 Silver Proof Coin (LPM Exclusive) https://www.lpm.hk/en/collectibles/new-arrivals/2021-2kg-great-britain-the-great-engravers-collection-gothic-crown-quartered-arms-999-silver-proof-coin-lpm-exclusive.html They also have this 2kg Gothic Crown on pre-sale. For around £8400, that's way more sensible than the price of Three Graces.
  17. ......so is palladium continued to be used in catalytic converters (and for other industrial products) even when it is twice the price of platinum ?! Why not go back to platinum as it is way cheaper now ? I personally do not understand the real difference between of these metals. So I don't have the answer but just putting out there.
  18. I do not agree. Central banks are accumulating gold because they know it is sound money with no counterparty risk. They also know that this current debt based monetary system has a limited shelf life, when Nixon terminated the convertibility of the US dollar into gold in August 1971. The System had a big crash in 2008 and has been on life support ever since. At some point, a house of cards built on sand will collapse. Then whoever has the most gold makes the rules -Golden Rule ! You do not hear Central Banks hoarding platinum because it is not considered a monetary metal. Equally, you do not hear of people in the Far East (perhaps Middle East as well) holding platinum and saving it for a rainy day. On the contrary, gold is far more sought-after and more diserable in these cultures than platinum. It has been that way for centuries not just the last 10 years. So if there is still such a thing as supply and demand that determines the price of a commodity, gold wins over platimum. Your two ounces does not hold much weight ! Try one kilo !! 😜
