It doesn't have to be one or the other. I like both gold and a variety of crypto currencies.

I don't think it's a coincidence that gold is falling as Bitcoin is  approaching an all time high.

As some have already said, this is a non-issue and not worth  worrying about.
If you're still concerned,  buy off private sellers on here and all you'll need to provide is a "name" (😉)  and delivery address.

This has already been said but I will say it again - If the conditions arrive in this reality that government are coming to your address for your £2500 of gold that will be the least of your problems.... because you will have also lost your boat in an unfortunate accident. Such a sad story.
Honestly there isn't an issue here. Buy the gold with ID, pay with debit card whatever, get it delivered - once your currency is parted for the gold, the gold is 'gone' from the system. No one knows what you did with it, there are no digital records of where you hid/spent/melted your gold. You could have used it to pay for goods and services, settled gambling debts, buried it and forgotten where you put it, etc. This is a non issue. A total non issue. Just buy your gold like everyone else. And if/when the time comes that they confiscate it.... annnnd its gone!

Do you own research and due-diligence that forms a long term investing plan and strategy and stick with it. The Silver Forum place to have a banter, make some friends, do some trades and talk about our strategies and plans for preserving our purchasing power in a dignified and respectful manner with others.
@Hennypenny I would not reflect on the past and be upset the game is far from being over. For individuals that look at the past and kick themselves for "missing out" will continue to miss out in the future. I was worried about Corona Virus switch my entire portfolio from stocks into bonds on 14th January later on in March I had avoided the biggest falls in stock in shortest time frame the markets had ever seen and my technicals shouting at me that I should switch back but I listened and was influenced by all the doom and gloom on YouTube. I have missed out on 40% gains in equity markets and I am still in Bonds now (ICiCI Life money market funds pays 6.5% still not bad).
We all need to stop looking back at the rear mirror and pay attention to what is happening in the here and now.

Wonger is like some of the share gurus on here, they never actually show a buy & sell trade of of their own but talk as if they have great knowledge, some may have most don't. Basically use your common sense. One way to get a pretty good picture of the guys who sell on here is look at their sales feedback &  take it from there the feedback system works similar to ebay.
Personally I have bought & sold on here with no issues so you can be 99.9% confident dealing with sellers on here,  obviously someone with 0 or a few feedback points offering the most fantastic deal needs to be viewed with caution.

You have lost nothing in reality because you didn't buy anything. Imagine if you had joined wonga and taken out a gold short at $1200; your ignorance and naivety saved you more than it hurt you 👍
As for trusting members in trades, its only a matter of time before someone is scammed on here, however I have not heard of any trouble yet buying or selling. Trading requires trust on both sides, taking someones opinion and using it as advice is another thing all together.

I started buying silver and gold as a way to spend without spending. Simple as that 😄

My initial interest in gold/silver stems from being a supporter of the Ron Paul campaign. I never liked the debt based credit driven Keynesian system. I abhor debt and value the freedom of being solvent. In 2008 and 2012, I supported Paul for president. In 2008 he had me because of his foreign policy stance and I liked that he was fervently against the welfare state while being principled. In 2012 my support was far more nuanced and by that time I had acquired a modest amount of silver.
I began stacking silver again in 2017-18 but had never got gold yet. In 2019 I bought  my first 1/10 oz Kangaroo and it was beautiful. My gold holdings while still modest are increasing rather quickly. I have to say I always wondered why silver isn't more loved by people as it very beautiful. It always made a little upset that people don't view it on the same level as gold. Then I got gold and I can understand why people view it this way. There's just something about gold that's inexplicably alluring.

I used to watch the Keiser report too. He’s been banging the door on gold for years but now it’s more bitcoin. His anti establishment message sat well with me. My trust in government had totally gone after the war in Iraq and the financial crisis. Loved his zany style and straight talk. I didn’t take what he said as gospel but it was the only place I could find someone who had a platform to attack the mainstream narrative. I found my own truth somewhere in between. I always find it funny when RT gets branded as a Kremlin mouthpiece when that’s exactly what the BBC is too.

@freefall said...My initial fascination with gold started when I was a kid. Like many households we always had an Argos or Index catalogue lying around that I would flick through when I was bored. As you would expect I spent a lot of time looking at all the toys but it was the jewellery section that really caught my eye.
When I was a kid  Argos/Littlewoods catalogue's was use to look at the ladies underwear section.
As a child pawn/jewelry shops always got my attention, I could never pass one without looking at all the shiny metal things... I loved stories/films about pirates and buried treasure.
I remember digging in the a vacant council house front garden hoping to find  treasure. I even believed that there was a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. I was very gullible. I still am.
As an adult it all got forgotten about and precious metals/jewelry never played a part of it. Working - mortgage family- going out was the norm. All that changed when I watched a News program with this crazy guy called Max Keiser  talking about Gold/silver and this new thing called bitcoin. It took me right back to my childhood days, who'd have thought them shiny PM's had such an amazing and important role in history.
One day I might be that pirate who sails off into the sunset with the treasure the girl and the wind at my back.🤪.
