    A Change to the Ranks
Looking at the curvature of the rank progression chart, ideally the points needed for some higher rank tiers need to be increased again (e.g. Veteran and Grand Master levels) so that the time between progression through each rank lines up, the higher up the higher ranks you go the longer time it is supposed to take to then progress onto the next highest one. However despite some small changes/increases that are ideally needed to the points required, I have decided to keep the rank points required for each level fixed at the levels which we had set last time.

    In other rank news though:

Avid NBS members, please do take a seat before reading the next paragraph. 🪑 Please also do continue to read through the entire post below as it explains some of the reasoning behind this.

In short: The NBS topic will be excluded from rank points and ranks will be recounted. It will still be possible to earn reputation points from posts in this section though.

The reason is because TSF is a precious metals forum. And whilst I have allowed this topic to remain under the conditions set out, TSF is foremost a precious metals forum and I believe rank points should be earned for posting positive and helpful precious metals related posts and topics. TSF must remain professional to attract the highest amount of industry representatives and dealers to our community and our main focus and hobby/investment that connects us all here is of course precious metals.

Regrettably I will also exclude the non PM section from earning rank points from fear that this section could be abused due to the change above. The non PM section was originally created for members to share information about their other hobbies, non PM antiques, politics and economics and other interests members may have. And whilst this is still the case there was one topic (the NBS) which ended up on a different path and had been sectioned.

We understand that some may not like these changes, specifically those who post a lot in the NBS topic and have gained higher ranks because of their posts within this topic. Please however remember that TSF is a precious metals forum, and likely if you are an avid poster across all of the forum and not just in the NBS topic your rank will reflect this. There were a lot of members who fed back via private message their suggestion for the rank system to be based on precious metals content only, and their reasoning makes sense.

New members to TSF may be confused by this ranking system and believe that those members with higher ranks have contributed more precious metals content when in reality they have been joking around in the NBS topic.

For the majority this should not affect your rank in relation to other members as the majority of members who post in the NBS topic also happen to be the most active on the forum in general and also contribute a lot of precious metals related topics and posts and help other members, so these members will naturally gain the higher ranks anyway. Many thanks to all these members who post a lot of precious metals related content as well

Please also note that you will still earn reputation points for your topics and posts shared in the non PM section and NBS topic. Which we believe is a fair compromise.

This new way of counting points towards rank will mean that it is fairer across the board, members who contribute a lot of high quality precious metals content and help other members out but who do not post much or at all in the NBS and non PM section of the forum will have a similar rank level to other members who post a lot of high quality precious metals content and post in the NBS topic too. The system is based on the quality and amount of precious metals content that is added to to The Silver Forum - the world’s precious metals forum.

We hope that members understand the reasons for this change. We also hope now that we will not need to adjust the ranks system again in the future.

Thank you to all the members who post helpful and informative precious metals content.  This process may take a few days as some time consuming adjustments need to be made within the admin area.

Although this is precious metals it is being sold as a piece of jewellery and I have have therefore moved it to the non PM trade section of the forum, as the item contains other value beyond just the gold content. This is also to fall in line with forum rules. The non PM trade section is the best place to list jewellery and luxury watches for sale.

ChrisSilver got a reaction from stackerp5 in MEMBER BANNED - Trading Feedback manipulation
With the help of some TSF members, which I will keep anonymous in order to help protect the community when investigating potential future instances, and some admin investigation...

We have today banned a new member who was found to be abusing/manipulating the trading feedback system to create false feedback on trades that never took place on TSF.

The decision to ban was also made as we also believed that this person could have posed a potential trading risk to TSF members. TSF prides itself on having one of, if not the, most honest online marketplaces for trading precious metals. This year alone there have been over 5046 new trade topics started, with many trade topics containing huge lists of precious metals items for sale. Many thanks for those members who choose to buy and sell on TSF.

Please do see the following topic and re-read to remind yourself on some simple tips in order to help reduce risk as much as possible when trading on TSF:

Many thanks to Premium Members who help to support and maintain TSF. For those who would like to support TSF please do consider purchasing Premium Membership as this helps greatly in maintaining and growing TSF. The larger TSF gets the more situations need to be investigated in order to help protect members as best as we can.
