Just for reference, if one was to Pay for postage online today, you can still pay the old rates and print your own label or get labels delivered and packages picked up by postman tomorrow

Just ordered 100 1st class stamps from the Royal Mail website before they go up tomorrow.

Why did you not get them from @arphethean, would have only cost you about 85p each

I didn't know he sold them, however I get a load of free ones every Christmas from work so I'm not too bothered, I've still got quite a few free ones left.

Dam Royal Mail have closed their website for buying postage labels due to "planned maintenance".

This could potentially be due to people purchasing shipping lables today for postage tomorrow, before the price increases 😒

Yeah thats exactly what I figured too. Its weird how their "planned maintenance" just happens to coincide with the evening before they increase their pricing structures to screw the common man.

I know businesses can have an account with RM, in where they can print their own labels and then pay a monthly bill for all items sent. Of course these businesses will get a reduced rate compared to what Joe Public pays, due to the fact of the quantity of mail they send.

But now a lot of companies are going paperless, ie sending digital bank statements by email for example, the RM will be losing revenue from those businesses.

That, in my opinion, is part of the reason they are increasing their prices and forcing the common man, yet again, to foot the bill and makeup their shortfalls.

Any Royal Mail staff who may also be TSF members who know anything about this "planned maintenance"? It would be interesting to hear!
