From RM

3 coin premium set (double, full and half sov) 100% reserved so just returns if anyone sends back or can't pay.

3 coin set (full, half, quarter) 72% reserved - it says 60% reserved but there are 280 sets remaining out of 1000, so.....

5 coin set (quin, double, full, half and quarter) 100% reserved, so returns and unpaids only possibly)

Single Boxed Full sov (no idea as can only order 3 per household but that option is still available)

Single Boxed Half sov 1303 of 2500 remaining

Single Boxed Quarter sov 858 of 2,500 remaining

3 coin regular box set (Full/half/quarter) now at 198/1000

Quarter boxed sov 835/2500

Full boxed sov 2215/10,500 remaining.

Half boxed sov 1258/2500 remaining

Please reference which three coin set you are referring to.

There is the 3 coin premium set comprising a double, single and half sovereign and the 3 coin set comprising a single, half and quarter sovereign.

It will avoid confusion.

I see they've lifted the 3 per household limit.

Indeed. Good decision with 80% reserved. Interesting as the next Queen's Beast must be close to being announced....that is going to test a lot of bank accounts what with Xmas coming up as well....

Well it appears that suspicions were correct as the proof 2017 is a unique design and not used for the bullion version. See reply email from RM below

Thank you for your e-mail.

I can confirm that there will be a different design on the 2017 bullion sovereigns to the proof sovereigns, these will not be available to order until January.

If you require any further information please visit www.royalmint.bullion.com or alternatively, you may contact them directly on 0345 600 5014

Kind Regards

Slightly ambiguous reply so I have asked for clarity that the bullion version will be the traditional G&D design. Too much to hope that there would be two new designs I suppose?

I have heard that it will be St George and the Dragon, with a '200' Privy mark.  The Proof design is a one-off and will not be used again.  (from someone who called the Mint today).

This is good news for the Proof's resale value!

I'm not so sure the same bullion design would have effected the proof price too much, but better to be safe than sorry so I'm glad it will be different

I see the 1/4 sov on its own is 65% sold out, who is honestly buying that

Maybe they are being bought as Christmas presents.  They'd make a great gift for the person who you bought a microscope for last year.

Hi guys, is it worth getting the 3 coin standard set or should I just get the soveriegn proof which can hold its value?

I've gone with the full on its own

Full sovereigns are the collectible size and I don't feel the half and 1/4 will add much extra value on top later to be worth paying another £320 now

Thanks guys. So even the high mintage of 13k the soveriegn should hold more value than the set? Cause not many will look for half or quarter?

Sovereign are worldwide collectors items , they have a bigger market than Peter rabbit :P

Are there less collectors for half and quarter? The mintage seems significantly lesser and they don't move as fast as the soveriegn

Half sovereigns do ok

The quarter sovereign 2012 was £130 from the Royal Mint, you can now pick it up on Ebay for £80 or £90 so..

quarters have only been minted for the last 9 years and you can hardly see them, go figure. They are cheaper of course so there will always be a small market for them but not from serious collectors
