Silver Coins that have 29-30mm diameters?

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Strange question but to give it some context, I bought some capsules that hold 29-30mm coins in error, I meant to order capsules for my 2023 Brits.

However, now I’ve got them I want to fill them so which silver coins do you know that would fit them?

Thanks in advance!

I can't think of any .999 silver coins that takes 29-30mm capsules.

But I know the 1oz Canadian gold maples are 30mm.

Perhaps you could buy some gold maples for those capsules you bought by mistake. 😎

Thanks for the information, sounds like this is going to turn into a very expensive mistake! 😂

I think the best choice will be to collect some half dollars (50cent) Canada, up to 1966. They are very nice and not difficult to find, relatively low premium.

Weight: 11.6638g - .800 silver/.200 copper.

Diameter: 29.72mmm.

See https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces310.html and

https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces308.html.

Cheers!🤗

Stefan.

If you put capsules into the microwave for 30 minutes on full heat.... they will fit nothing and you probably need a new microwave.

Lucky I finished reading this just before I pushed the on button!

Check with @LukeStacker

He had some recently, not sure if they sold.

I like to buy the pre-dip dip

Another option is US silver half dollars which are 30.6 mm.  Maybe that's too big if 30 mm is the actual upper limit and not an approximation.

Canadian gold and platinum Maples are 30 mm.

Mexican 1/2 oz gold Libertads are 29 mm.

I ended up filling them with half crowns! But thank you for going back and replying to this post all this time later my friend

Well I thought I did but just googled it and half crowns are 32mm 🤣

I can’t remember what I put in them now, I’ll have to go through the stack and find out! To be continued..
