eBay Photo 'Borrowers'!

Recommended Posts

I'm flattered that anybody thinks my photos are better than theirs and would like to use them for their eBay listings, but actually its theft. Not only that, but one eBayer is even using the listing description EXACTLY. I even thought for a minute that i'd listed this coin 3 times!!

This is my listing........

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284980854570

and the listing in question......

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255742004211?hash=item3b8b694bf3:g:VNcAAOSwfrhjJgMe&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoOStgWX98OkuzvZIRGedeVGFZIYeHgxXytjMkQLhREbaKGuVUuSDfHYHJpluzuAS5dbdn7JzEniOdVhetbh5KaAX1o%2FzVvZ0rbyW9RjrM%2FHP1m4ruI%2BXFaPkv8V49%2FbRou1MuAbfPN9L4ganzABF5SFAGmhL3MdejBQt3BdcojkuH0W2gcdIUbiqMoT%2Fga6m9MhpD25ck%2F3Rig4szYmMhl0%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR7Ls3ITwYA

I take my pictures in this way to make them stand out from the rest of the Royal Mint stolen images that are used in every other listing. But hey-ho!

I've messaged the seller in question and asked him nicely to remove the pictures from the listings.

However, if anybody on the Forum would like to use my pictures, please ask and i'll let you have a slightly different version to differentiate our listings. No charge.......i'm a nice guy after all ☺️

In the good old eBay days of old when you hosted your own images on your own web site/photo account and you found someone your old images, I swap the URL link out for for scanky grotty porn filth image then report the listing as having 'inappropriate content"

Used to be able to watermark your images on feebay, sadly not allowed now to :(

How much you after on your Falcon Dave?

This is probably not the place to discuss any potential deals, but FYI the 1st one sold for £132 (i was surprised too), and the 2nd for £90.

I have more in the tube that keeps on giving! PM me

I can spot my images easily. Bullion coins are simple because of the imperfections. The metadata is probably still embedded too, but i really can't be ar$ed 😂

That’s very rude of the eBayer! Shouldn’t be aloud but no idea how you would stop it and I have to say your photos are quality 👍 nice job on them!

Its almost impossible to stop. So easy to lift a digital image.

How much you after on your Falcon Dave?

And I feel the need to tag @LawrenceChard as I know he loves an eBay stealer

And the name or user ID of this particular ebay scumbag is:

kane2005david of  Morden Surrey , United Kingdom

and like most of the other thieving, lying ebay scumbags, he also has "100% positive Feedback"

Why are you using ebay @DrDave, apart from the fact there are plenty of ebay suckers buyers who are happy to pay too much because they don't know any better?

It would be interesting if you did report it to ebay, if only to share your experience with us!

I wouldn't put it exactly in those words but...............😎

I'd rather sell everything on here. Much easier and less stressful. I've had a few trades and hopefully more coming now that i'm getting a little more confident

Yes, I used to swap filenames around, and their one contained text saying:

The photo this ebayer used was stolen from Chards, etc.

I learnt the trick from Doug, a.k.a. @SemolinaPilchard!😎

How do you swap URL link? I sell stuff on eBay and have had these issues previously... Some just copy images/ title and content. Now I take extra effort to have my eBay id sticker along with images.

You have to use eBay hosting now. Didn't used to in the good old days :(

I found this little nugget buried in the eBay agreement:

We may in particular use your content, including any photographs you upload, for marketing and promotional purposes. This includes (i) offering it to other sellers to use in their listings

Although it does say earlier that you should use your own pictures and later on says that you can ask a seller to remove your pictures. So it kind of contradicts itself.

It also says that the author of the picture (me) canoot take legal action against eBay or a seller for using my intellectual property!

What a crock of ..................

Update.
the seller that was using my pictures and title replied. He said that he thought that they were eBay stock images and apologised. He couldn’t remove them from his listing because there were bids on it (some things are locked when you have a bidder)

we agreed that he would let the listings run to the end and then use his own images in future.

I’ve saved him as a favourite seller so I’ll be watching closely! 😎
