I would appreciate any insight on the following. I just opened an account with Auvesta, but have not committed yet. Their one-off cost to open the account is 1500 euros (usually 1800 but having a discount till mid-september), which I thought was quite hefty. I am told that I could pay less, but then the cost of the metal would go up, a little bit like any membership where the more expensive the membership, the better value over time. I am also a little bit nervous about having metals in a foreign country where I have no control over, how do I know for sure the gold is there and physical? What about capital gain tax in Germany? Is it better to hold the metal oneself? And if so, where do you store it? HAs anyone have an experience of Auvesta? any insight is much appreciated

Welcome to the forum!

I have not heard of this organisation before, and see that you are in the UK.

I cannot comment on whether this company is genuine, but I would be put off from investing with a company with large up front fees or who states 'unto 15% discount' without explaining discount to what exactly.

Most forum members are keen to get Gold as cheaply as possible but this is always at a few percent over the spot price (at a minimum).

I can see that you have quite a lot of questions. The forum has lots of answers to you questions - the search feature is invaluable for finding those discussions.

All the best
