What's all this about spending sovereigns in porn shops? 🙂

Guess we’ll never know the true history of coins and notes.

I mean, that £20 note you tucked into someone’s birthday card could have been tucked down some lap dancers pants 2 weeks before!!

Indeed - and 80% of USD bills allegedly have traces of cocaine on them :o

An article to put people off handling (used) cash notes:

I realise this is an old thread, but to me that 1911 coin looked like it had been cleaned/polished before you purchased it.

I have a small pawn shop in my local town, always have a look in when I walk past. I bought a 1914 half sovereign about 6 weeks ago for £170, a brand new half sovereign from the Royal mint was £179 so a little bit cheaper from the pawn shop. All they need to do is to make a £20 -£30 profit on it and don't price them high so they get a quick sale. Worth asking if they have any other coins out of sight, mine one always have a few

That's the way I'm buying most of my trade coins (Kaiserreich, Vreneli, 20 Franc). Have a wad of cash ready, see what they have.

I'm not worried about the coins' authenticity after I have seen how intesively they test my coins when I'm pawning something (it happens).

As long as I'm paying bullion prices for bullion coins I'm happy (they surely weed out anything numismatic).
