I'm terrified of buying saving up for  a 1oz gold Kruger now. I'll stick to 1/10th's and some silver twice a month. Might be nice to collect a 1/10th of all types for aesthetics.

It's just getting too expensive. With eastern fingers prying the market away from western hands it's too unpredictable now for larger purchases.

Maybe I'm just a peasant 1st class. Don't even have a boat to lose my stack in 😢

Sovs or half sovs at the best price you can get.

Are there any parallels you'd see with South Africa that might be relevant to the larger gold price discussion? Im asking only because my mind tricks me into thinking you mentioning that you had lived there for a while. Disregard and sue me for defamation if I'm making things up pls.

No, with SA hoarding any of their own gold, I'd say South Africa are a lost cause, corrupt to the core. The government has probably ransacked the gold stores to fund their incompetence in running Eskom and Telkom, the energy supplier and telephony supplier in SA.
So if the question is do we expect SA to become another Zimbabwe, then the answer is yes!

He had a few quid spare and blew it on the odd ounce or fifty. He said he's calmed down now and wants to invest wisely...I said I agree and that was that.
