Neither, Queen's Beast 1/4oz :P

My preference is old sovereigns or new Britannia, because of the colour.  The extra premium upsets this though, for gold per £ cant really beat new/recent sov.

I agree.
The older sovereigns look like gold should be and I've seen the Egyptian stuff in Cairo.
The new sovereigns are far too glossy and to anyone new on the scene look fake - far too coppery in colour.

That’s coin racism :(   Both are good looking in some way :)

but yes, especially the bullion sovereign which looks really shiny and cheap!

Bet @Pete would sell them all if he could get what HGM are now charging for 1/2 shield sovs

Had these for many years purchased before I discovered HGM and well before the creation of the Silver Forum.

What would you go for and why?

Clearly Sovereigns. Apart from the reasons already mentioned, the demand is always higher than the supply on the continent, particularily in Germany and Southern Europe (whereas in Western Europe the Swiss Vrenili would be more popular). This same PM dealer says he can get you any quantity of e.g. a Krugerrand in a very short time [perhaps unless you are Croesus], if you order it but not coins like the Sovereign, the Swiss Vrenili, the German Gold Mark or the Austrian Corona etc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zbWmh7Q6bRY
