RM Full Sovereign Screw Top Capsule Size?

Kritika

Recommended Posts

Hi, can anyone help me please.

I know the inner dimension of a RM Full Sovereign Screw Top Capsule is around 22 - 22.5mm, but does anybody know what the actual outer dimension is, before I splurge out some silly money to get 10 + of them.

Any pictures of what they look like from the side would also be appreciated. 👍

The royal Mint are selling the caps, they might not be the same type but excellent price. But as with everything I'm not sure if you have to pay for delivery if you purchase under around £45 but worth a look.

Good luck.

Before you buy capsules from RM make sure they're not their new snap-shut ones as opposed the screw cap.

Yes I saw that, £84.00 for 10 plastic capsules, and that’s my question are they realy that good compared to the Leuchttrum ones?

I will gladly pay any forum member £50.00 + postsge for 10 if they have them to sel, or even £100 for 20 if they have that meny. 😜

They are only that good in respect that they are the original type of capsule supplied by the RM for proof sovereigns and a few others.

They have the lip that enables them to fit snugly in the RM sovereign display cases.

They are a solid construction but the screw thread sometimes doesn't stay closed as tight as you might like, especially in transit.

As stated earlier, they aren't a particularly good fit and the coins do rattle a tad.

Thanks @sovereignsteve do you perhaps know if they rattle around as much inside the Leuchttrum capsules..

I've never knowlingly tried the Leuchttrum caps but may have done so as I've tried many types over the years. Almost all have been a poor fit with the coin rattling at least as much as in a RM screw cap. I do remember trying one, I think it was from Air-tite, that was actually just too small. It was very difficult to get the coins out again, some were impossible to do so without destroying the capsule.
