  1. I would expect that a dealer would pay spot value or maybe spot +/- 5%. You are very unlikely to get back what you paid. The US/Canada section on here isn't super active. However you might get a UK/European buyer interested if the price is right.
  2. Do lighthouse not make 22mm capsules or would these be to tight?
  3. I have had this before all you can do is pay to get your items and then claim the funds back which is not the quickest process in the world.
  4. Over the past few years cash has been on the decline. I remember taking my parents to DFS to buy a sofa about 4 years ago they paid in cash and the people in there had what can only be described as a breakdown. More recently there has been a surge in people using cash as they quite literally count the pennies. Also I think there probabaly are more costs for businesses usuing cash as apose to tapping your plastic card or even mobile phone and the magical internet fairies move "money" round which we all know are just numbers on a screen.

    Coins Worth?

A little below the current spot price but since you want the funds fast its not a horrendously bad price.

    Coins Worth?

A main trader will pay spot value or maybe even spot - a percentage. Just out of interest what price has your trader quoted you? If you use the buy and sell section you might get a little more. I am expert in sovs but I do not think you have anything super rate unfortunately.
  7. I think there is no VAT to pay on gold but there probabaly will be a handleing fee from the delivery company. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/gold-acquisitions-imports-investments-and-vat-notice-70121
  8. I think 1 option is to use: https://www.secursus.com/en-gb/shipping-insurance/ Looking at their T&C's Article 4 - Items covered by the Parcel Insurance 4.1. Secursus insures all new and used goods, except those listed in the exclusion list (4.3). 4.2. Here are some examples of Items covered by the Parcel Insurance: jewelries, pearls and precious stones, watches; goldsmithing, collector coins; leather goods; works of art or collectible Items, collector's stamps; handicrafts; high-tech Items; clothings, shoes, fashion accessories; sporting goods (including Bicycles); books, magazines, posters; medicines that do not require controlled temperature; They do not cover what they call "PURE PRECIOUS METALS" so might be worth sending an email to them and confirming. I have never used them before but I think some other forum members might have. Another option if possible would be to split things into multiple packages.
  9. Welcome to the forum and the start of your journey down the rabbit hole that are precious metals. It is a nice idea to buy sov's for kids. I am currently buying 1 a year for my niece as a present for her when she turns 21 or 25 or whenever I think she is responsible enough to have them! I have a date run of them on the go. Let’s say you have another 35 years left (I hope that it is many more and you have a very full and prosperous life) that is 420 months if you are able to buy 1 every 9 months that will be 46.6 sovs so call it 47 for ease. No one knows what the gold price will be in 35 years but if we look at history then the year change is as below (data provided by gold.co.uk): Yes I appreciate the above is a little "brute force" and not an elegant as it could be but I think it gives an overall idea Now when it comes to the purchasing of the sovs there are the main dealers BBP,Chards,Atkinsons etc. The cheapest I can find is a "best value" from Britannia Coin Company which at the time of posting this (1am) is £349.02 a coin. Now on the forum we have the buy/sell section and the cheapest Sov I can see for sale is £335 so there is money to be saved. £10 doesn't sound like much but if you are able to save £10 each purchase then you can put that towards another sov or maybe an oz or 2 of the shiny silver metal as well. Also buying on the forum allows you to see the exact coin that you will get a premium membership is well worth the £5 a month. You can also get some nice sov storage cases I got mine from coin gallery there are others just something that looks so nice about sov's in capsules in a case. Also just as an end note I am not affiliated with any companies mentioned or the silver forum just a happy active user.
  10. I seem to remember a news article from a few years ago saying around 25%-30% of Brits have no savings or other funds to fall back on in an emergancy a quick google found this but it is from 2016. As with all reports like this even from that bastion of impartiality that is the BBC need to be taken with a kidney crippleing pinch of salt.... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-37504449 But on a more serious note I tend to feel that financial literacy is not taught enough to young people. I am 28 and I do not remember a single lesson at school regarding budgeting or what an interest rate is etc. Maybe that is because I went to a state comperensheive and had other things on my testosterone filled teenage mind than how inflation will mess with interest rates and what the gold to silver ratio is. I also think that has been a shift in society to more spending and less saving. My parents and grand parents were taught the importance of saving and looking for the best deal and only buying what you need when you need it. These days when I go to the petrol station I see people I know in £50k cars that they pay through the nose for each month topping up with £20 worth of petrol because that is all they can afford. My sister will buy a dress online and wear it once then never wear it again. Recently I helped her move some furniture around and she was throwing away clothes she has never worn that still had the tags on! For some people money "burns a hole" in their pocket and they want to spend it and I aswell do get that feeling at times so I spend my money on precious metals and do keep what I feel is enough money in the bank that can be accessed in a crisis aswell as a credit card if this are truely dire.
  11. When I got it everything is awaiting stock. So that was a great way to spend 20 minutes this morning
  12. 630 in front of me bet it will be picked cleaned by the time I get there!
  13. Is it possible to actually buy something on launch day. Number 1505 in the queue so don't think I stand a chance.
  14. They eBay one seems to be different as the posters doesn't have the 11.11.11 on the top that I can see
  15. No picture on this but description seems accurate. https://en.ucoin.net/coin/jersey-5-pounds-2011/?tid=111302
  16. Hello and welcome to the forum
  17. Some girlfriend you have mate, Lovely looking coin that is
  18. Yes with the inport duty and vat charges that ship has now sailed. There can still be a saving buying directly from Eu dealers yourself in germany but you have to be very careful with your calculations or you can lose out.
