    Price's are c**p tbh.
    1oz krugerrand from @1stsovereign £1515 delivered
Generic sovereigns around £375 and even special reverse sovereigns go for less than their quote.
    Kilos of silver £720-£730 ish

    What coin collectors can expect
Coins in the commemorative collection will celebrate milestone anniversaries and moments in Britain's history, such as the King's 75th birthday.
The 2023 sets will be available in a range of precious metal and base proof finishes from 3 January at The Royal Mint website, with prices starting from £50 for a set.
However, each of the coins will become available individually in 2023.
The gold proof and platinum coin proof collections will be beyond most coin collectors and enthusiasts budgets. They will cost £7,845 and £10,390 respectively!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😱

    Some resolutions for 2023:
Leave your current temporary job as soon as possible.  It does not suit you at all, and it is not good for you.
Ideally find a job that you enjoy and which makes you happy.  If not - consider not working for an extended period of time, it will be emotionally far better for you even if economically a lot worse.
Work out how much you actually need to live on per annum and how you might fund that until you are very old.
Be kind to yourself and look after your physical and mental health.
Read more, and listen to more music.
Catch up with good friends more.  Enjoy their company, and be excellent company for them.
    Keep enjoying simple pleasures.
Do not even consider buying any more tangible items such as cars, paintings, sculptures and watches, even if you think you might want them.
    Love what you have.

    Some stacking/collecting goals for 2023:
Try not to buy any physical platinum unless it really, really speaks to you.  And then don't listen to it.  Love what you have.
Try not to buy any physical silver unless it's a Great Engravers bullion bar and you really like it.  Love what you have.
Limit any purchases of gold to bullion sovereigns, bullion double sovereigns and 1 oz gold bullion coins.  Possibly a 1 oz Great Engravers bullion bar (see above).  Try not to exceed 5oz in total unless you get another job (see above and below).
Fund the 1 oz gold purchases by either doing paid work, or by selling stuff you already own.  This can include spare (non-collection) gold.
Sell some, or perhaps even all, units in your ETFs if gold, silver or platinum hit £1750, £25 and £1000 per ounce respectively.

Just the irony that @ZRPMs started a thread about resolutions and wishing everyone a positive new year, but we ended up in a episode of EastEnders. Phil Mitchell is being done for tax evasion and both @LawrenceChard and @Silverlocks are trying to sell 4k monitors.

Will do more to spend cash. Its too easy to just use a contactless card.
3k budget on PMs this year. Would like to double that but im being realistic. Less silver, more gold.
Find a job that i enjoy.
Keep a roof over my head.
    More goals than resolutions.

    Basic short term goals:
I'm trying to maintain a cadence around £1,000pm on saving to PMs.  Unfortunately the tax man cometh so I can't really do more until I've caught up with that. Next year: Maintain £1k/month into PMs, mainly gold, spin up a SIPP once the plague of locusHMRC is satiated. On the plus side, saving to gold is actually working.
Medium term, build up to maybe 20-30oz of physical, then switch to saving into the SIPP, which will mainly be PMs until the indexes at least look like they're bottoming out.  Then, move to some appropriate balance of growth items with a PM hedge.
Longer term: be one of those old codgers that dies with a massive collection of sovereigns that nobody has any idea what to do with.

My stacking goal for the current year was to thin the stack of oddball bullion coins I’ve accumulated over the years and convert the proceeds over to the few bullion items that I stack in bulk.  I’m trying to make future liquidation a lot easier without having to sell a bunch of individual items.  In case my family needs to sell, they can just grab a handful of bullion and bring to the LCS without having to know a lot of detail about each item.  This will also help consolidate storage and simplify inventory management.  This will now be the goal for the coming year.  🙄

Well another year draws to its end. I found myself wondering what have I manged to achieve this year? To be fair not a lot. My biggest achievement was to pay off the mortgage. Just under 15 years early. Just goes to show the power of making over payments. Start with what you can and build up the over payment.
Having given it only a little bit of thought I've come up with the following
!, Use cash only when in person, small attempt to halt the march to a cashless society.
2, Use my full ISA allowance for savings. I tend to use this as retirement savings. If needed I can access it now instead of having it locked away until I'm 57 or even 58 by the time I get there.
3, It would be nice to get either a gold ounce a month or a sovereign a week. I intend on using what I would have been paying the mortgage with.
4, I would like a few kilo bars of silver
5, Try to find a half decent van instead of the pile of scrap I'm driving at the moment. Its got to be costing me a sovereign a month in bl@#&y repairs
Anyhow. I'm not sure how this will align with everyone else's goals. not withstanding trying to remain healthy and happy.
I would like to wish everyone wonderful New Year, Healthy, Happy and prosperous. I've only been on the forum for less than a fortnight but I've been made welcome, made a deal and gained quite a bit of information. I may even expand my bullion collection in to some proofs. Many thanks to all

    Hi rudy.
We pay vat in the UK on platinum so its not apple's for apple's unfortunately.
    Here's how I'd view it in your shoe's ( assuming you wear shoe's 😆)
    $207 ÷ 5 = $41.40
In GBP that equates to £34.61 so that's an OK premium for us ( remember we pay vat) but seems on the high side for you.
Best sticking to 1oz coins/bars to bring the premium down ( save up for next items) obviously you need spot to sit still for this to be beneficial though.
Example, I can get a 1oz coin now in UK at approximately £1000 , so that's $1196 ÷ 31.1g = €38.40 per gram ( but in the US that should be substantially less with no vat to pay)

As a newcomer, it can be a minefield making the first purchases but the TSF members are ready with years of experience and knowledge.

@stefffana agree with lots of different countries with 1/10 oz but depending on collection and intent not good for CGT.
@Petra I also feel your pain, have all the intention of saving up for bigger coin but then, oww shiny and end up buying smaller coin with a higher premium, as you say though not too fussed as the premium carries over on sale.
Interesting hearing peoples point if views though.

I have said this more than once 🤦‍♂️but then new shiny appears. Good luck with it though. I think an important aspect is still that you enjoy doing the collection in the first place, or at least it is for me.
