    Hello everyone.

I’m a new coin collector, and have fallen in love with Libertads. I already amassed the complete set 1982-2022 of 1 onza Libertad silver, and continue to want to learn more about this most beautiful coin to ever exist.  I’m here for the community, and to learn.

New to the forum, long time silver/gold stacker. Mostly silver, been In love with it and coins since I was kid going through Morgans with my dad. Just wanted to say Hi to  everyone and introduce myself.  What's some people's Opinions on what silver to stack lately?  Been a good day for silver, we'll see how the rest of the week shapes up. so far the calls are worth it and the long ones definitely seem to be the right play, especially with all the global/political economical things happening. Happy stacking everyone

    Hello Everyone,

As my username suggests, I am a complete rookie looking to start investing in physical metals. Found the site via Backyard Bullion on Youtube. I hope to learn what the best approach is for someone resident in the UK to grow their investment with modest outlay and no experience. I am chomping at the proverbial bit to get my hands on some physical silver (really fancy a 1kg bar), but it seems, from my meagre research, that premiums are prohibitive for UK dwellers and that gold is the best course of action if I want to hold a physical metal? That being said, sales posts on here seem reasonable (thanks BYB for the help!), and it got me to thinking; What is a sensible % of premium on top of spot price for Ag, considering an investment time horizon of 10+ years?

Looking forward to learning more on here,

    All The Best.

Another newbie here to make an introduction.

I've been collecting silver for around a year now, initially because I thought it would be a good long-term investment. However once I'd got my first few ounces, the lure of the shiny was too difficult to overcome, so nowadays I keep buying silver purely because I enjoy feeling like a medieval king with a chest full of treasure . I'm a big history fan, so I was collecting Roman coins before I got started on the silver bullion. My current favourite antique coin that I own is a Roman Dupondius from around 27BC (sadly, it's only made of brass...)

I've also recently added a shiny new half-sovereign to the collection - the first bit of gold I've ever bought. Will definitely be adding more at some point in the near future, along with more silver coins that have interesting or beautiful designs.

Welcome to the forum! Happy stacking!

Just a short message to introduce myself.

I took early retirement from work… life is too short!

I have recently become interested in all things silver. My savings aren’t doing anything in bank accounts so thought I’d dabble in buying/stacking silver.

First I bought a couple of tubes of Britannias from ‘BullionByPost’. Expensive, but beautiful. Then I bought a few Queens Beasts on ebay. I like the idea of collecting sets (must be from my childhood stamp collecting days).

I found this forum from subscribing to ‘Backyard Yard Bullion’. His YouTube videos were infectious and has just increased my ideal to buy beautiful, tangible pieces of silver.

I would welcome any advise and help in my quest to own beautiful coins and bars.

    Thanks

Welcome to the forum, and good for you taking the plunge in early retirement!

I definitely agree, however for me the PMs just feel slightly more stable and I don't mind the long haul. Also the conflicting information surrounding the viability of BC as a payment method, tends to put me off. Most of my money was in BC as the daddy. I'd definitely keep an eye on the latest information surrounding up and coming tech though. But for now the PMs get the nod, especially with the crash coming.

I agree also. I don't invest in crypto, never did and never will. I applaud everyone that made money with them!

I am definitely in PM's for the long haul. My issue with BC was that I fear for its future in that it's not tangable. Nor are other forms of money but PMs are shiny and you can hold them. Therefore as a certified magpie I've cashed most of the BC out and bought PMs instead. 15-20 years is my plan. Although I haven't quite worked out the exit strategy yet 😉

I think the general emotion under crypto-owners is fear right now. Which is good for new investors tbh.

A lot dumping crypto, making it a good time to buy for new investors.

This may have been discussed before, but the lull and subsequent annoyingly predictive daily up and down of Bitcoin has left me less than Impressed. Question is, do I just cut the albeit small losses and just buy PM with it all or leave it alone?

What was your initial plan with crypto? I suggest stick to that! ;)

For example; I am in PM's for the long haul. I have a plan when buying pm's. I also have an exit strategy and therefor I also have a go-to-guy when I need a quick sale or buy to adjust my stack a bit. I never sell much because i have a feeling that PM's will always rise in price in the long term. So i don't panic when PM's dip or rise. I just keep with my plan and therefor keep buying.

Evening all, just wondering how often everybody checks in to the forum on a daily basis for whatever reason. Personally, if memory serves me right, when I first joined the forum it was one maybe two times, but now I log in three, four, five times a day to check what's for sale. Is this about right or am I paranoid in case I miss a bargain.

Only a bit of light hearted fun, so be kind 😋 😃.

PS should have said, some of the general threads are hilarious.

I used to check the "UK for sale section" on the forum couple of times a day but since Brexit and the difficulty with importing gold and silver to Europe I never check the for sale section anymore. Way to painful to see all the goodies and not being able to buy them without also 'buying' heaps of trouble with customs. The Europe for sale section is kinda quiet (I hope that it will take off though!).

I do enjoy the forum for way more than the for sale sections though. Always good fun and interesting info on pm's.

Hello. I have deliberately recently chosen to stack full sovereigns (bullion) as a hedge against inflation and "quantitative easing". The more I look into it, the more interesting it becomes! Trying to have the discipline to stick to bullion and avoid the temptation of the shiny objects in my path 🙂
So I will initially be selling some half sovs and a few of the more interesting pieces I have to end up with just plain bullion full sovs. Will also be a buyer in this forum I am sure.
Thanks for allowing me to join and learn from you.

interested in gold mostly for long term stacking

Hi Marcus, welcome to the forum!

  16. That is how it works, if you have time sell individually on here. Will make you a decent premium over what dealers pay you. Mind you, I do like trading with dealers, saves me the hassle and secures a quick and safe deal.

    Hello everyone

I'm a Kiwi and have been stacking/collecting since March 2022. As a kid, back when America's first Catholic president was bonking Marylin Monroe, my brother and I did collect stamps and coins but it wasn't a big thing.

I have a basic stack of about 400 oz Ag and 6 oz Au.

On top of that I have slabbed American Silver Eagles and Morgan dollars, plus an assortment of high value gold and silver Items. There are many tempting sets of coins, but aesthetic appreciation of this artform is high on my agenda which means that rather than completing a set I may buy only a few from a set. I'll likely never have to sell, but I'm not above selling to buy another coin. I also buy with consideration for continued collector interest in 10-20+ years, for my heirs.

I don't have a LCS, so all of my purchases have been online and I know that, subsequently, I'm overpaying for nearly everything. It's a real challenge finding coins at the right price. I've missed some only because the seller won't ship overseas, or the US Mint (while accepting international orders) which doesn't accept my postal code/zip number and therefore the transaction won't complete. Also the added premium of p&p charges has an effect on my choices.

Still, I soldier on knowing that to my heirs, the original cost of any item is totally irrelevant.

     And lastly, friends.......................................life happens.

I think I've watched too many prepper videos on Youtube. They keep talking about this stuff called silver and gold so I figured I should educate myself on the matter. :D

I can see @Jvw, your location is in The Netherlands. Have you tried 10 Gulden date run? Maybe are more affordable than other foreign gold coins.

You can choose only one monarch to begin. For example, Willem III, who even rules between 1876 and 1889, were issued guldens only 9 years according Numista page https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces8323.html.

And step by step you can extend your collection.

    Good luck, my friend!🤗

I did! I forgot to mention those in my initial post. I pick them up when i can! Small beautiful coins and also well available. Just a couple rare dates, I just skip those! ;)

Just wondering what other people collect for their date runs :)
