This cover is for replacement items only and would NOT cover retail value of items.

What does that mean? I thought RM covered whatever you sold it for, you just provide proof of the sale.

  2. For anyone else that may run into this, If you hold a corner of the card with your index and thumb and flick downwards you can get enough momentum to rotate the coin slightly. Took about 5 minutes of doing this but was able to get it all the way around.

  3. Just got a carded 2022 sovereign from the RM. I know it’s just bullion but disappointed that it’s been put in rotated 180 degrees. Not seen one that’s not been positioned straight before, is this poor quality control or is this the norm?

  4. I would add to that though sometimes I will photograph a coin and it looks terrible but it looks much better to the eye, so I would say try to get a photo that is as good a representation of what the buyer will get when he opens the package. You don't have to light the coin up and zoom in to show every flaw that you can't see with a naked eye.

If I could be bothered to look for statistics, I think I would find that over 65s have more disposable income than some of the other groups.

    https://www.statista.com/statistics/824464/mean-disposable-income-per-household-by-age-uk/

After 65 they have less disposable than 18-24 year olds, most people that get to retirement are not wealthy stackers.

I fail to understand your point (question?) "With the peak age of collectors between the ages of 30-65 are these going to be replaced by younger collectors or are they more interested in digital assets."

    😎

People under 30 are more interested in going out with friends than collecting coins. When people are between the ages of 30-65 they have the most disposable income. over 65 they have less income, ill health and death, so they buy less, sell or they pass on their collection which then gets sold. Will there be enough new collectors to offset the supply that is going to enter the market going forward. We have brought forward a lot of demand I feel over the last two years which has driven prices up. With the younger generation more interested in digital assets, nfts / crypto I don't see them being interested in proof sovereigns. I was collecting coins when I was a kid, I didn't have an iPad, I see no catalyst for new collectors.

  7. I witnessed a huge shift of negative sentiment towards royalty when on a trip abroad just recently which surprised me how this could have changed so dramatically over the last 2 years since covid.

This got me thinking about a few things, will people want to collect proofs when King Charles takes over? With the peak age of collectors between the ages of 30-65 are these going to be replaced by younger collectors or are they more interested in digital assets.

Could we be approaching a peak and permanent decline in the coin collector market?

  8. I wouldn't put acid on any coin, exhaust all other methods first and if you are sure you've been sold a fake and you are in a dispute it would be my last resort.

If your happy with spot or less then it might not affect you as much but selling privately will be a bit more challenging and you will lose premiums.

  9. I picked up some 1/10 britannias and I regret it, they are tiny and when it comes time to sell you do have a wider audience due to cost being low but it also means more trips to the post office and more packaging materials to find. Getting the premium back you paid to the dealer will be more difficult also when shipping is also involved in these smaller purchases.

I would say the sweet spot is the full sovereign, 1/4 britannia or 1oz britannias if you don't want sovereigns. I prefer the 999.9 gold as well but I think sovereigns are more liquid on the forums.

My recommendation is buy full older sovereigns as close to spot and in as good condition as you can. The older sovereigns are more yellow in colour, I don't think many like the pink modern sovereigns.

Yes there have been one or two noticed by various people that haven't been shown to be fake. Until these have been fully tested, we can't be sure.

This one came from HGM so I assume it was tested. It is on weight and nothing else looks amiss other than the colour being out of the ordinary.

  11. Do gillick head sovereigns have colour variances? I have only seen them with a copper like tone but I have come across one that is more similar in colour to older Edward VII. I can easily pick the sovereign by eye out when next to the others.
