Gold Ashrafi Coins – Mamluk Sultanate – Egypt – Gorgeous Historic Gold Coins! – £295 Posted Each – UK 🇬🇧
Eight gorgeous gold Ashrafi coins from the Mamluk Sultanate of Egypt.
The Mamluk Sultanate was a state that ruled Egypt as well as the Levant and the Hejaz from the middle of the 13th to the early 16th century. The Mamluk Sultanate was ruled by a military caste of Mamluks with the Mamluk Sultan as its head.
Each of these beautiful gold Ashrafi coins is struck from approximately 3.4 grams of high purity (90%+) gold. Mamluk gold Ashrafis like these were conventionally struck to a weight of approximately 3.5 grams which was the same as that of the standard gold trade coin of the period, the Venetian Ducat (Zecchino). I recently posted and sold three of these Venetian Zecchino coins and have more available for sale. Coins such as these are generally of the highest purity.
Available for sale here are four gold Mamluk Ashrams struck during the reign of Mamluk Sultan al-Zahir Jaqmaq (AH 842-857 / AD 1438-1453) and four struck during the reign of Mamluk Sultan al-Ashraf Barsbay (AH 825-841 / AD 1422-1438).
I have provided photos of each coin individually on a scale. There is barely any fluctuation in weight between the coins in this lot, but feel free to pick and choose the coins that you like and let me know!
Each coin is almost 600 years old and has a melt value of over £185.
Price is £295 each including fully-insured postage to anywhere in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland! 🇬🇧
Payment via bank transfer to UK business bank account, PayPal, and debit or credit card via my website.
🇺🇸 NOTE TO USA BUYERS: Price is $385 USD including fully-insured shipping to the United States! ✈️📦🇺🇸
    Thank you! 🌟

Zhorro reacted to Pete in Gold Price Just Dropped! What Happened? (2024 Update)
When I started my stacking addiction I read lots of reports, listened to podcasts, followed the "experts", looked at the charts etc. etc.
Turns out most of this was B.S. and this is especially so when people look around for reasons to explain very short term PM trends up and also down.
When gold is high the sellers advice is to buy more because it will rise in value.
When gold falls the same sellers will advise this is a great time to buy more to take advantage of a lower price.
I have never seen these people advise to sell because the metal will likely decline in value.
No-one can predict this and hindsight is wonderful for writing blogs and trying to look smart and informed.
If you search around you can always find a geo-political or fiscal event somewhere so just fit that - many will believe this.
It probably doesn't have anything to do with the fluctuations of gold and silver.
The "big greedy bankers" trading using "algorithms" make the markets fluctuate and these folks make money either way, up or down i.e. the first derivative in calculus is good for making fast bucks.
The same holds for trading Forex and stocks & shares.

That's my thinking anyhow but others may disagree.

Holding PMs is a diversification to fiat and is more likely to maintain wealth rather than grow it in terms of purchasing power, whereas fiat loses value daily due to quantitive easing and inflation.

I thought it was to distinguish the sovereign from the half sovereign, as there is not that much difference in size and it was even more difficult to tell them apart from a photograph.

    Ottoman Empire Rubiye Gold Coins – 1223 / Year 21 – AH1243 (1828) – Mahmud II – Stunning Examples! – £95 Posted Each – UK 🇬🇧
Each is 0.3 grams of .860 (86%) gold.
Five absolutely stunning examples of this type! These coins are typically found pierced or otherwise badly impaired. The five examples available here are well-struck and boast flashy, minty fields.
For those wondering how to work out the Gregorian date from the AH date, this is the convention...
Add the regnal year to the coronation year and subtract one to obtain the AH date. In this case it is (1223 + 21) - 1 = AH1243.
One can then convert the AH date to the Gregorian dare using a simple calendar convertor. Such tools are also useful for other calendar methods used in coin collection by the various dominions around the world.
A great way to add some scarce 1800's gold to your collection, no less from the Ottoman Empire!
Price is £95 including fully-insured postage to anywhere in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
Payment via bank transfer to UK business bank account.

Here’s my 1887 silver set, taken out of similar ‘Victoria Jubilee Specimen Set’ box, with the addition of an 1887 Sovereign.
Those were the days as a numismatic collector (not any more!) gradually filling up the box - that was the enjoyment, especially when complete. 🙂 @EvilLandlord
Photo is a size comparison - I’m sure you can identify them all, even the ‘Barmaids Ruin’?……
