  1. Getting this thread back on track, 1323 is very pleasing. Today, the bank I work for has started to look at independent and alternative ways to measure inflation. This hasn’t happened before.
  2. My house isn’t valued at anything, it is the house next door that sold for that much. Best Dicker
  3. In the U.K. generally. The house next door to me sold for me 1.3M this year having sold for 1.1m 18 months ago. Lots of people still seem to be moving out of London. Best Dicker
  4. I started rebalancing to own more gold vs other assets 6 weeks ago. According to the estate agents property is rising strongly, farmland is up a bit and hold I suspect is playing catch-up.
  5. You are not the first person to say this, both in jest and seriousness. Perhaps I am out of the loop, but I don’t definitively know who was the owner and have yet to meet anyone who knows. Best Dicker
  6. Don’t worry, not a criticism at all. Your post made me think, which is a very good thing! I personally think Morgan’s are beautiful coins and for 30 quid you can buy a nice one to hold and admire. But for me Gold with no tax just makes so much sense. All the best Dicker
  7. Hi All Does anyone definitely know who was the owner of the Bentley collection? Best Dicker
  8. @Shep I do agree given the current tax situation. But, I think there are silver buys that makes sense but they are numismatic rather than stacking. I do not mean the modern RM stuff but hammered, Morgan’s, Georgian etc Best Dicker
  9. Excellent. Over the long term it does work. All the best to you Dicker

    1989 half sov

It’s a horses for courses thing. I used to like 1989 Sovs but personally, I would much much rather have a high “grade”Shield Sovereign or Type II Sydney Sovereign. I think the 1989’s are a solid buy, but I don’t buy graded coins, and see the real gems in Sovereign minted in the Victorian era or earlier. Best Dicker
  11. It’s a long term investment and long term hedge against inflation etc. I buy and ignore prices. All the best Dicker
  12. Personally I would buy: (1) A nice Morgan Dollar - its just a nice coin and just good to have one in your collection (2) I would focus on Sovs close to spot. Best Dicker
  13. I am incredibly sorry, as you will appreciate, not intended. Best Dicker
  14. If your are a stacker, just buy the lowest over spot… The shape / design doesn’t matter Best Dicker
  15. On one of @LawrenceChardsites the is an article on this from some time ago. I think this said something along the lines of “look at buying round gold bars” ie cons. Please forgive me if that is wrong! But essentially if you want weight, go for the cheapest Sovs or Brits. Best Dicker
  16. I suspect there may be a business in refining silver for members….
  17. @LawrenceChard Well spotted, I would not have noticed that. Quite subtle to say the least. Best Dicker
  18. I find that coin shops are not too badly priced for Morgan’s in the US. I will dig out a list of the ones I have used before. cheers
  19. Hi All I have spent some time looking for some specific Morgan Dollars, and what is really apparent is the very big disparity in prices of Morgan’s in the U.K. and US - with very high quality coins being much much cheaper in the US. When Covid restrictions have been relaxed I am going back to the US and will be buying a load high quality Morgan dollars! Best Dicker
  20. Fascinating - do let us know your progress! Best Dicker
  21. Oh, contraire. There is a 50p for sale for GBP10M
  22. I am afraid your link just leads to a load of proofs. If you are talking about the GBP245k Una, seen lots of more expensive items on ebay. If I remember correctly I saw a Ferrari F40 Konig Evolution go for GBP1.6M Cheers Dicker
  23. Welcome to the friendly forum! Check out the sales section and the previous articles! Best Dicker
