  1. Showed up at 9:59 local time and got queued with 7 (!) before me. Seems to be a side door, while at the main gate the usual shouting, pushing and rock-throwing is in full swing...? Placed my order (just the full sov) and left. Confirmation email arrived.
  2. The five-piece set seems to be gone
  3. I liked the 2002 but not 2005 and certainly not 2012. 1989 is unrivalled...
  4. The bullion sovereigns will be much later. Here in Germany they use to arrive in early-mid January, and in the UK not too much earlier. Half and double bullion sovs should be another few weeks later.
  5. 9am. That makes 10am over here. I'll be wide awake all morning My plan is to buy all (full) sovereign issues for 2022. No matter how many SotD, matte, plain edge, bullion etc. they are doing. So, after a hiatus of 3 or 4 years, this proof full sov is a must.
  6. You'll have to... We all have to... 😬
  7. 15.000 mintage sounds quite a lot for me for collectors' demands. I am not sure about investments. But I would not expect it to become scarce anytime soon.
  8. Don't worry. The share of platinum-related posts here is, I would estimate, roughly at par with the share of platinum in the wider PM market... I noticed the Kooka 1/10 oz but haven't made up my mind. I set my eyes on another 2-3 full ounces this winter; maybe I just throw in the Kooka.
  9. Full proof, and half, full and double bullion. Maybe two full bullion.
  10. Here in Germany they are available. Price level isn't too funny, though. I got mine long ago for less than half of today's prices... The Griffin is the only one that is hardly available over here, and for completely mad costs.
  11. I didn't. I was tempted to own a sovereign from the catalogue but the bids' levels taught me otherwise.
  12. Just bought the 1oz silver and the sheet metal - just as in the QB series. No VAT was charged. Let's see what the waylayers over here will do 😉
  13. The two sovereigns should be close to spot, 320-330-ish. All the rest are collector items which I wouldn't touch, and therefore can't estimate a value.
  14. I have seen several such videos. However, nobody has ever reliably explained to me how much gold is actually used in the manufacturing of a computer. My take is that it is far less than suggested in the videos. I think they are fake. In university, in the past millennium, some of us tried to extract silver from photographic waste solutions, and not even that gave satisfactory results.
  15. The golden Tiger looks nice but the kitty in the silver series is plain ridiculous. Does anyone know (maybe just I missed it) when the platinum Tiger will be issued? I might need to sell something to get enough paper currency to pay for it...
  16. What's hidden under the black bar? Some special label with one's name added?
  17. My recent PM purchases: The five 20€ 2021 silver coins from Germany; the 2021 quarter ounce Noah's Ark; the platinum White Horse; two slabbed and one non-slabbed Sovereign, and a 1978 gold piece from Israel.
  18. Hi all, did anyone buy those new RM blister cards already? I kinda like the idea but have the 2021 half and full sovs already... Are the coins the same that you would get in any shop, or are they of choice quality? Would you think NGC will label them differently than tubed 2021 sovs and the half in the cheap blister?
  19. Just checked German prices. Gosh! Thank God, I am complete with the ten original coins. The Completer is nowhere available, just on pre-sale. Griffin is about 160€, the other early ones around 90€. Plus postage, that is...
  20. Yes, very much so 🙂 In the meantime I try to afford more quality (slabbed, proofs, SotD etc.) than quantity, which of course slows down the rise in numbers.
  21. When I finally decided to invest in gold sovereigns, I went to a major gold dealer here, taking a big wad of fiat with me. They gave me one each of 'all' sovereign types - 3x Victoria, Edward VII, George V, 3x QE (i.e. no pre-Victoria, no shield back, no George VI, no 1983-2000 QE), so I had something to get aquainted with. That was for starters; today I have around 150 different sovereigns.
  22. The handful of 1 oz proofs (Dragon, White Horse and Griffin) that I see at dealers go for 115-120€ which is pretty much the 150$ mentioned above.
