1843/8 - Extremely rare, probably the rarest overdate in the shield sovereign series. In superb MS63 condition, an ex-Bentley coin so had to pick it up.

My first ever Canadian sovereign. Am hooked, have just bought another one!

Nothing rare about this Bronze Medal but it was great to pick this one up in such delightful condition, both the medal and the case.

I have one of these also unslabbed but nowhere near the condition of this one, this is the second finest example graded by NGC/PCGS

Arrived today- recent eBay pick ups, and coins from @fiveshotdon & @arshimo2012.
The 2012 Half was purchased on behalf of a Forum member who lives outside of the UK but he has kindly agreed to swap it with me for my NGC Graded Half- I now have all this Sovereign year date PCGS graded.
The 2002 Double in time, will be going off for conservation & grading as it has fingerprint marks.

An eBay Fractional Libertad pick up, another thanks to @fiveshotdon for the Half Sovereigns and Silver & Silver Piedfort 50p’s from the Mint. 

This little beauty... my first toe dip into the world of "old" sovereigns. 1837 Shieldback. As always the photos are terrible and its in a flip that is a bit beat up, but will be off to @Numistacker for some NCS treatment.

My 2019 Brilliant Uncirculated Matt Finish sovereign arrived today.
The pictures of both coins on the Royal Mint’s web site are shown in a weird colour which almost defies description but which bears no relation to the colour of gold, hence the reason I was keen to do an actual comparison with the proof 2019 sovereign that I already had.
The most immediate thing one notices is the packaging.  The “matt finish” sovereign comes in a basic cardboard box whereas the proof sovereign was in one of the prestigious wooden boxes.  Also the coin capsule with the “matt finish” sovereign seems to be smaller!
I do think that “Brilliant Uncirculated” and “Matt Finish” are contradictions in terms!  Surely something is either “brilliant” or “matt”, so can it really be both? 
To me, the new sovereign does not look to be very “Matt”.  It is certainly has a different finish to both the proof and regular bullion sovereigns, but I am not sure I would call it “Matt”.

1873 Shield - Unrecorded Die number 24. There is a large gap in the die numbers for this year from 23 - 100 with only 2 being found in between. This die number wasn't found by the Bentley collector either, it's assumed that Marsh's records are incorrect for these large runs of gaps that he claimed existed from RM and other records.
It's nice to improve upon other cataloguers records with new additions!
Some overstamp on the 2 in die number also, can't check it further right now as don't have scope handy

Today i received my first graded coins from @Numistacker  although they all got 70’s, but the reason i wanted them in a slab is because it is easier to look at closely and enjoy. Plus the slabs makes them feel more precious!  I even had them in scratch proof slabs but i got some scratches on the plastic 😅 i think ngc’s scratch resistant plastic is just the same as the normal one.
