History inevitably always repeats itself again.
As Einstein said, the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results
We are sleepwalking back into it again as more more and more of Joe public is reliant on big governMints teet for permanent sustenance

The commies butchered 50-100m people in the 20th century depending on estimates. Pol Pot, for instance, murdered 1/4 of Cambodia's population. Their numbers dwarf those of Hitler et al. and yet communism/marxism/socialism (they are all the same despite what they claim) are allowed to thrive in the West.

I dont. £21 or ideally £20 a coin are a bargain longer term, given that silver has not long been at £10 an ounce.
I love an 1kg unicore personally these days.
Is it me but if we are entering stagflation - who cares who has a job or not?
If a loaf of bread doubles & mortgages go up 50% & wages stay the same people will be fookked wont they?
I dont trust these figures at all & its a load of rubbish if you ask me. big turning point coming IMO.
Like a mafia war it has to happen to pull out the bad blood.

A florist today said her mortgage went up £500 a month as they fixed it at 4% for 5 years.
Ima a lucky bugger for fixing mine for 10 at 2% as even I would be finding it a bit tricky.
I have no other debt too.

MancunianStacker reacted to iacabu in Bullion being sold at insane prices on the Highstreet in the UK, who is buying it?
I too have wondered the same.
I asked at a local pawn broker to me (Nathan and Co), they buy in sovs at ~£300 (spot £360ish at the time) and sell for £500!
I think a lot of purchases will be from the less scrupulous individuals who hold large amounts of cash and want to convert it. This was also agreed when I was chatting with a local jeweller I buy from.
I understand shops have large overheads to cover and can't just get by on making a tenner, but it still leaves the question as to who buys it.
My business mind is that I would rather keep stock moving and sell at a more reasonable price in order to buy the next item, rather than have a £500 sovereign sat in the window for months.

    Agreed.
A number of people hyped recent (last 5 years or so) RM issues.  I have no knowledge of their dealings but I suspect they were sellers of the hype, and made money out of the issues.
Personally I see less than zero reasons to buy modern issues - then or now.  I don’t mean to upset any members - bit the confected (often poor quality) coins are boring.
As I mentioned on another thread - something genuine, like a modern hammered coin - in restricted numbers I would buy. Recreating a process, renewing a technique etc.
I have recently seen (this week) an independent analytics company forecast rates next year at 0.5pct and 2025 at 0.1, then rising again to 2pct.
    I continue to buy.
All the best to you all, irrespective of what you buy.

67 troy ounces of gold coins recently has around (£1500/ounce) £100,000 value. Weighs around 4.57 pounds.
4.57 pounds weight of £20 notes is around 2073 grams/£20 notes (a £20 note weighs about a gram) around £41,460 value.
It requires more energy to move/carry heavier things around. Pound (weight) for Pound and gold takes up less space and weighs less than £20 notes.
Stop wasting energy, hold gold instead of £20 notes, its more than twice as efficient.
    😉

If you “parallel” / tram-line the peak line plotted, and drop in a trough line, you can see it works perfectly. So imho, we are due a “to the moon” 🚀 jump over the next 2 years! Well maybe not to the moon but gold looks cheap to me even today based on this chart

By having a range instead of a fixed rate the Fed can use whatever number within that range best suits their agenda. If the Fed chooses to charge towards 5.5% it would be considered an indication of tightening monetary policy, and if towards the 5.25% boundary it would indicate loosening conditions
It's essentially another form of Forward Guidance to be read by banks and market participants. Forward Guidance has been a standard tool to stop folks accusing the BoE or Fed of taking secretive actions to favour one private interest over another. When commentators talk about "Fed credibility" they are referring to how closely the Fed sticks to it's timetable and what it publicly says. This is why millions the world over scrutinise every syllable and inflection when Powell speaks. Every word spoken by the Fed is like a bridge they are building. Should they step off the bridge or markets force them off the bridge, then the proverbial hits the fan

I think the key thing is to be competitive on price.  A lot of Forum members already have these coins (OK maybe not graded) and so to entice them into buying, it is going to have to be down to price. If you put them into auction I don't think you will end up getting spectacular prices.  So, do your research on prices and be realistic in your expectations. Multi-lists seem to work well if the prices are right.
