Just got an email to say it’s expected 6th February now for the 5 coin set.

Have any singles been dispatched yet?

If that is correct and NO production will start until then, it is a disgrace that the MInt has issued these and taken money a month before. Appalling.

Yay..... I see the memorial piedfort has now sold out at the Royal mint. Give it a few days and they'll find some more no doubt lol.

2002 Three Lions Gold Proof One Pound   The original UK pound coin appeared in 1983 and was also available in silver proof and Piedfort versions. It took some twenty years before the first gold proof was minted in 2002 - the year of the Queen's Golden Jubilee. As the coin was only offered as part of the RM gold proof 13-coin set, I had believed my chances of snagging an example to be somewhat remote.   A total of 2002 sets were released, so the number of "orphans" is likely to number well below 100.    This particular PR69 specimen came up for auction in the US and is now safely in the hands of my friend and TSF legend@jultorsk, who was kind enough to take the accompanying photos. Another bonus was discovering that this is the uniquely highest PCGS grading achieved for this coin as well as the only Deep Cameo.   Shame really - if I cannot find another then I shall have to remove the mortuary slab.

Here's a crazy and wacky idea. How about Royal Mint make the coins first. And then put them on sale?
If any RM execs are reading this, feel free to use my stunning business model idea.

Tbh I've a feeling ( depending on delivery dates) more will be cancelled in due course.
Personally I'd rather see it in person before making any decisions, but I completely understand your and other's decisions.

I was very conflicted cancelling the 5 set. It's a beautiful design in my opinion. I do have concerns about the short to midterm prices and desirability though?
I was definitely feeling the FOMO at the time.
I'm going to cancel my 4 set and roll the dice with some more crypto instead.
Will I feel remorse in a few months... Probably.😄

OK, Is it Pink or Yellow then? Could be the camera.
Not sure about this reverse. It looks like an overgrown jungle of creepers and vines. Where are  tha animals hiding? Never seen a Sovereign without a field.  I wonder if Jody Clark was briefed to make it look different from the jubilee 2022?
Can’t wait to see it close up though 😀

Don’t need to worry about marks in the field if there is no field left - the mint dealing with the QC qualities in the best way possible.

So I’ve just seen what appear to be actual images of the sovereign over on a FB group. The Charles side looks very good, very clean etc. The Arms side whilst attractive, does look extremely busy and a bit ‘crammed in’ - would’ve grabbed a screenshot but not my pics to share

I cancelled my 5 coin set Monday. I've still got the 4 coming unless I change my mind or it has QC issues on delivery.
I want a 4 coin set graded at PF70 to go with my QE platinum PF70's.
If it doesn't workout I will have to pay up for one on the secondary market. 🤷‍♂️
I bought some XRP and Ethereum instead. 😄

I'm in two three minds on this.
Firstly I think that QEII fully deserved a memorial Sov, which obviously could not be Charles' first year 'proper'.
I also think they faced a difficult decision with the first Charles III release, as he's somewhat divisive among some coin collectors, with some (like me) ready to finish their collection with the late QEII. Better to encourage the continuity of the series and iron out any problems with mintages with this QEII 'memorial', and try to gauge the way ahead for Charles' first year. A memorial coin that has his effigy is perfect in that sense. <Edit> One with a large mintage that is 'for the Queen'.
Thirdly, I do wonder whether this release will be looked back on in time and largely felt that the Queen really should have been on it.
    Basically, I'm bamboozled

Thing is I’ve been burnt by RM charging me and not delivering for 6 months on various releases (I cancelled at that point because they still couldn’t give me a date), this affected my decision to cancel my sets too. I’m not paying for something and hoping to receive it again 🤷‍♂️
Hopefully they are now on top of these issues for all the other buyers. Fingers crossed 🤞 for all!

Selling things you haven't got in stock, may reignite a debate with a certain UK NW well regarded bullion dealer in years gone by.
Some who were perfectly happy with this practice and some the total opposite end of spectrum
