Its their "flagship" coin they were hoping it would be a sellout in days, they raised the mintage figure by more than 70% in some cases hoping to maximise profit, certainly don't want it sitting around unsold passed summer 2023 well passed Charles coronation in May when RM would be issuing another set to commemorate that event. They did not anticipate the lost of momentum in sales, not that people who bought the Jubliee coins won't buy because clearly many who bought it also ordered the Memorial sovereign, but fringe and first time collectors, many who are not usually financially committed to collecting these but would buy now find they had to tighten their belt and thosee extra high mintage was aim for them.

RM were hoping they were a sellout in days but because it is not shifting quickly enough they put a new announcement that sale will end on 31st December. I won't give them the benefit of the doubt, its obviouse what has happened.

More like 23.4% commision. Not sure why anyone pay extra to bid through Salesroom, but if you are the seller you got £750. The attraction of an auction house and the excitement of bidding all need paying for.

Its both. Had they kept the minatage the same as for the Platinum Jubliee it would have sold out now.

It's been a curious release. I bought early and was happy to get the one item I ordered. To think I was rushing so much to check out I almost forgot my password. But now, with stock still available days later it means I will not have to look back on this release with any regrets. I've had plenty of time to second guess whether I should purchase more but also to reflect on what I have bought and relax, without overstretching my finances in the moment and without the dreaded FOMO.
I will say that regardless of how these coins perform on the secondary market I just think it's a great looking coin and I can't wait to get my hands on it. I feel lucky to be in a position to buy gold with everything that's going on for so many at the moment. I think in the end, for me, that's enough.

Yours might have fallen out the capsule and the obverse hit something hard causing a dent and whoever opend the capsule quickly put it back in and half closed the capsule. 
 
I think they have so many problem coins it just becomes a case of what is acceptable to you. It should'nt be that way because proof quality is meant to be perfect.

Did'nt spotted that when it was available on tiesday. Was this just been added?
 

If it sells 12 sovereigns a day it will be almost a year before it sells out, that is if it can maintain the same level of interest. Until all sovereigns are sold its almost impossible to expect prices go up signficantly for any of these.

I actualy liked the 1989 design when it was first announced and did not give it a secnd thought when one was avaialbel at our local dealer in 1999 for £90. When short of cash I tried to sell it a few years later and realise nobody was interested except for spot price. the saving garce for this memorail soverien is it has  a pretty design much like how it was for the 1989 design and I think on the long run more people will want this over the Platinum Jubilee one.
TBH the memorial looks like the Platinum Jubilee coin on steriod. Pity about the higher mintage made it more common so it will take more time for it to become valuable.

The Hogwart express looks nice. Some people think the first Harry Potter coin does not look good but it is a faithful to the book illustration, it is not suppose to look like Daniel Radcliffe or hyperealistic. My hunch is the Potter gold coins will become more valuable way more than the memorial sovereigns in just a year's time.

There is realism and 3D effect with the JC design you can immerse yourself into it so I prefer that over the static coat of arms which is just too much like the old £1 coin.
