This is the thing with American grading I'm not too fond about. Eye appeal, nice strike, full even frost, etc, should be taken into consideration.

This is where grading falls down. I wouldn't want to buy that coin even if it were a PF70.
For proof coins in particular, it would be nice if there were some additional value that represents how well the coin was made in the first place.

When you get a coin that size it becomes a novelty, a medallion, no longer a coin.

Before establishing a retail price, The Royal Mint carefully ignores price guides and market trends.
As we source our historic boxes from high end carpenters to ensure we can make enough money for the terrible condition coins, our pricing model is obviously quite different to dealers selling great coins in flips. We are unable to compare or offer comment on valuations provided by external sources.
With regards to specific issues raised with products such as the Victoria Young Head Crown, we have taken this feedback, torn it up, and are working to ensure that we never have to read it again. We always want our customers to make informed decisions before purchasing, but on this occasion it is not helpful so we won't.
We are always working to review and enhance the pricing of our historic coin offering and so we are not taking your feedback on board. As a trusted brand, we acknowledge that there may have been instances where we have not charged enough for the tat we offer. My 2oz just arrived. Looks good, frosting is even without weakness or flaw, no spot, grease or sign of cloudiness in field. This could go PF70. I've been getting 1 out of 10 from RM that I consider perfect, this is one of the perfect ones.

They make Arthur Daley look like a honest broker!
I bet they hire people to go on on ebay and buys up a lot of low end stuff and then flog them off at 10 times the price on their website.

Glad you got a perfect one. The COA numbering does not actually mean when it was made. Usually coins struck early when the die is fresh has the best detail and it probably goes through a better quality control.
