All things considered going on in the world and it being an absolute $hit show this precious metal is massively under-priced in my humble opinion but is being suppressed.

Started seriously stacking/collecting gold just over 3 years ago and breached the 1KG level late last year. The forum has been a massive part of this journey, @ChrisSilver I thank you for creating the community and the work you put in daily to cultivating a thriving environment, long may it continue. Started with silver, then moved onto bullion gold and proof coins thereafter. There's also a bunch of others to thank for the help, guidance, advice, encouragement and inspiration to make it to this point (I'm sure I've left out a load of other peeps):

With the lovely weather of the bank holiday weekend I felt like sharing my collection so here it is. I took a load of pretty pics before putting everything back in lock up. I think I've accumulated a decent collection. I have a few outliers that I'll most probably sell on the forum at some point which are not part of below so keep a look out. I also may part with the bullion Britannia set (feel free to drop me a message if you're interested).
What next? I feel I have enough from an investment portfolio for now but I may start to pick up a few key older sovs, we'll see. Let me know what you think and thanks to you all again:

I wasn't comparing the UK to anyone else - I just don't think it's a fair representation to say that we got money from the EU budget as a net contributor.

Just checking in to read the thoughts and comments on this thread… it’s always insightful with a good splattering of humour.
I was just thinking about the sell off of Gold in 1999…. I think it’s something like this…?
    1999 - 395 tons @ $275 oz
So imagine if Brown had held….
    2024 - 395 tons @ $2233 oz

    Ho hum….

It's not racist before any wokeys or silver stackers moan. Caucasians do the same looking at sub 1/10s

Surely all silver will eventually tarnish … no problem. Milky silver is a different matter and may not matter if getting melted, however, a manufacturer fault that is not needed by collectors 🤔😮😮

You'll see the same behavior of overpaying for relatively generic items on many auction type sites. Catawiki is another example, particularly under the 'no reserve'. For some reason 'no reserve' makes bidders buy into the idea that 'now it's bound to be cheap'.
An example is https://www.catawiki.com/en/l/81958595-1-gram-gold-umicore-sealed-with-certificate - 1G Umicore bar is currently going for €82 with 21 hours to go. It'll add 9%+€3 for 'auction costs' and delivery costs depending where you are (€20-50 usually). In this case 1 gram gold is traded for at least €92.38 + shipping. Let's be generous and say €25 shipping. That'd be €117.38.
A 2G Metalor bar is here up for €160 with 2 days to go at https://www.catawiki.com/en/l/81958561-2-grams-gold-999-metalor-sealed-with-certificate. That's €177.40 + shipping for 2 gram of the shiny stuff, about €100 a gram with 2 days to go. It WILL go up at the last minute for sure.
The point being, that which you're not seeing is emotional sunk cost fallacy of some sort. People just get invested in 'getting the thing' and 'winning' the auction. Agreed also that some people just can't/won't read a description. I think the get-out-of-ebay-jail-card in the previous examples is that 'sovereign' isn't a protected word and you can slyly use it to sell any coin really. Absolutely disgusting business practice of course, but a fool and his money...!

For me doesn't matter at all. My flatware will tarnish anyway, it is a natural process. My bars are doing the same, gaining character. Coins I buy only damaged or milked. If there are scratched or milked coins rejected by others, it is a bonus for me. I can buy cheap silver.😊

Received this error strike 1oz Gold Britannia from @ilovesilverireallydo   Its a beauty.  This has got to be the only hobby in the world where we are happy to get a mangled product and be happy about it!     It's clearly not been flush within the collar out by 3-4 mm easy.    Really don't know how this got out of the factory like this.
