SovereignBishop reacted to stefffana in Antique Solid Silver Spoons .812 Marked 13 at spot
Thank you for tag!🤗
I have seen them and I wouldn't hesitate to buy them, but from Tuesday morning I will go in holiday.
For those who are not familiarised with the Loth measurement system, this was used in many european countries during the Middle Age, before the millesimal finesse system replaced it.
"The loth standard was an indicator of the quality of a silver item.
The loth mark of silver shows the content of precious metal in the alloy - the number of loths in one Cologne mark of the alloy. 1 Cologne mark was equal to 233.855 grams, while 1 loth was equal to 14.616 grams. Thus, the loth was equal to 1⁄16th of a stamp, that is, the weight of the loth depended on the weight (mass) of the stamp.
For reference: in Medieval Europe, the mark was originally used as a unit of measurement for the weight of silver and gold.
And only after that it began to be used as a monetary unit. Due to the fact that the weight characteristics of brands differ, hence the inconvenience of this measurement system. " (https://sochicfinds.com/blogs/articles/loth-standard-silver-what-is-a-loth-numbers-and-symbols-of-silver-purity-degree)
A very interesting history of the Cologne marks of an alloy can be found on Wikipedia page about "Imperial minting standards":
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reichsmünzfuß.
Silver fineness was indicated in "loth" until 1867 in Austrian empire, until 1888 in German empire, until 1891 in Norway, until 1891 in Finland,
12 loth silver= 750/1000
13 loth silver= 813/1000
14 loth silver= 875/1000
15 loth silver= 937/1000.
Note*: the marks pictured are as should be. If someone want to buy these teaspoons, can buy them with 100% confidence. I have many continental spoons with 13 loth marks in my stack, I am familiar with this marking system and all of them passed the acid test.😊

SovereignBishop reacted to Orpster in 1876s Vic Young head Sov
@Sovhead Not sure if you have blocked me but you have not read the message I sent you 2 hours ago and show as left conversation on any previous pm exchanges we have had. I did message you on the original sales conversation too as I did not at first notice you showed as left conversation.
If you are not happy with this coin you are welcome to return it and I will refund and cover the return postage. Alternatively as spot has dropped I will refund the difference from what you paid and your advertised sales price (plus the postage you pay to ship to the buyer) as I cant imaging this will not sell at spot posted. Could the next person to read this please respond to it and tag sovhead as I am not sure he will see this if he has blocked me, I do not like the thought of someone being unhappy with a coin I have sold them and would like to see this resolved and make sure the buyer is not out of pocket.

SovereignBishop reacted to JamesH in Wanted mixed 1oz silver coins any conditions paying £24 a coin
@guywhostacks10122 am guessing based upon zero comms since agreed deal last night, you’ve had a change of heart. Not an ideal way to conduct business but we live and learn eh. Maybe I might suggest at least letting a seller know you’ve changed your mind, should any future deals go the same way. Thanks

SovereignBishop reacted to Spyder in Wanted mixed 1oz silver coins any conditions paying £24 a coin
@guywhostacks10122, you need to reply to members PM or you will find that no one will deal with you. You have already lost one of the biggest sellers and buyers @James32 due to this. Even if you are not interested, the polite thing is to reply and say no thanks in this instance.
Remember, you have once chance to make a good impression after that, no matter what you do it is gone.

SovereignBishop got a reaction from HonestMoneyGoldSilver in Silver Monitoring Thread £ (GBP) only.
As someone who had a year away from the forum recently, I can't help but feel silver is on sale right now on here.
Minted bars for £25oz. Eagles for the same or less.
When silver was under £20oz I'm sure the above items were about the same price as they are now?
Previously on this forum I felt gold was the bargain and the premiums on silver were not worth it.
Of course it could be getting ready to fall back down, but I am backing up the truck.
