Agreed, the Premium Bonds for me are also an insurance policy if I lose my job, I've got enough for several years of mortgage payments.

I've worked in Financial Services for the majority of my career and that is why I use cash, invest in PMs and am over paying the mortgage as much as I can without crippling living.

Yeah unfortunately the majority of mine are modern copper shiny discs, so tubes are out. Although if premium continues to be non existing, I'm going to turn them all into clangers and store in the tumble dryer.

My current approach is to put most coins in capsules, but I havea couple that are the ones I take out for handling when the fancy takes me. Usually not the worst but definitely not the best, ones that make me feel happy to handle. Got to take some pleasure from the ownership along the way.
