  1. If it doesn't sell, I'd be happy to take this at spot please!
  2. Saw this today - not sure if any of them would fit it:
  3. The price goes up every time I'm ready to buy some and then I can't bring myself to do it because it was significantly cheaper last week and will probably be again once I do pull the trigger. So I end up getting fat with puff-pastry mince pies instead.
  4. Oh God, this is like an appendage comparison and having seen what Thomast has pulled out, I now have to suffer the humiliation of revealing my two units.
  5. I paid £550 for this 1858 sovereign (just 803,234 minted) and it arrived today. It has a lovely natural patina and lustre that isn't too visible in the artificial light that I took these pics in (not great quality - sorry). Lustre perhaps more obvious in the video! No idea if I paid too much but I'm very happy with it. u IMG-3432.MOV
  6. I don't like bars but I bought them because they were at spot with free delivery, they're pure gold, and most importantly I know they're genuine and I'll be able to prove it with the receipts should I wish to sell them on. That makes them highly liquid and I'd rather have my wealth in gold than fiat. The value of cash is going down by the day and yet the overall trend for gold is upwards.. No brainer as far as I'm concerned! Plus a free 50p!
  7. Sort of, but I'm happy to exchange their paper for real money!
  8. Joined in the fun and grabbed 2 x 5g bars, plus the 50p! Thanks! 👍
  9. This is exactly what I love about this site. Well played, chaps.
  10. I hear there's decent grants given by The Princes Trust - you should deffo submit your business plan. Judging by recent shenanigans, you'd stand a cracking chance!

    Graded coins

Awesome posts! Thanks chaps - lots of really interesting and valuable info shared.. 👍
  12. Outing myself as an absolute philistine! Here's me thinking Wolfgang had a first name that I was unaware of. Very much appreciate the history lesson 👍 They still look like the Kray twins though.
  13. Perhaps so but there's something eerie about the fact they decided to make two versions of Mozart on the same coin. Looks like the Classical period's version of the Kray twins.
  14. Bloody hell. Go on then! I don't want to because I think it's ugly but gold is gold 😂

    Graded coins

This one confuses me because I'm thinking most coins have been cleaned at some point? As in, rubbed with something to remove excess dirt. Even keeping a coin in a pocket could give the same impression. I'm sure there's really obvious exceptions but at what point in a coin's history is the cleaning deemed to not matter anymore? Can I just keep a bunch of my older coins out on top of the wardrobe for a couple of years and flip them every Christmas before sending off for grading? It's very possible I'm just an ignoramus but whole 'cleaned' thing is the most contentious part for me.
  16. Also have this date but ungraded! Perhaps my favourite coin ever, though. Also have 1920/10 in 64+ and I'm still tempted by this. Someone please snap it up before I'm forced to go without food for the month.
  17. 2030 seems to be a key target for their stated agenda. I'm guessing the proverbial **** will hit the fan before that point if they're to be successful in a fundamental change to our society. I guess it all depends on how much resistance they meet.
  18. That's a sane, well-reasoned perspective, and I totally agree that in the end, the banks win. However, much of what you've said regarding the fed's lack of levers this time around, suggests that you believe they wish to avoid a crisis and are therefore operating in good faith (please do correct me if I'm wrong). I don't believe that to be the case. I just don't buy the notion that they have limited options due to a series of events and circumstances that have gotten out of control. All of this is intentional and we're being dragged along for a grim ride. The powers that be have decided it's time for a massive change, unlike anything we've seen for a long, long time.
  19. I don't think they'll pivot at all. I reckon the only thing going to da moon are the interest rates, until huge numbers can't afford their mortgage (death pledge) and every last drop has been squeezed out of the majority through intentional inflation, followed by an economic collapse and civil unrest. I've always been a positive, glass half-full sort of chap so I do apologise if my outlook is a touch negative! They're slowly boiling the frogs.
  20. Can I buy the Hungarian one please? Nevermind! Just noticed it's gone already..
  21. Absolutely agree! The coins for sale here are amazing deals given the current price (and I'm tempted) but I'm also anticipating that it'll fall (might be completely wrong!). For me personally, there's too much volatility with it yo-yoing above and below £1600 (mostly below) over the past year. Given that, I'm holding out for another sub £1600 dip as like many, I don't really want to purchase near the all-time high price. That said, these gorgeous older coins deserve a premium IMHO so I really do wish you all the best with the sale. I do think they can only go up in value.
  22. Leon dropping some rhyming bars. Read it again, but with the flow of Eminem (only rapper I know).
