  1. Received this beautifully lustrous sov thanks to @silik
  2. I'll go grab a kitchen scourer and give that scratch a good old rub down. You'll never notice it there once I'm done!
  3. Cheers, the scratch looks terrible in that photo due to the light but it honestly isn't more than a surface/grime scrape if you look under a loupe. IMHO, the 'scratch' is just where it's removed surface dirt (I don't see it embedded in the gold at all when viewed at other angles). I really need to take better pictures of it.
  4. Thanks - and sure! Apologies about quality - I was using an old iphone with an attachment so it's blurry outside of the focal point. Looks better IRL.
  5. Not sure I agree entirely! Here's an 1848 I have..
  6. It's a gorgeous coin - no doubt! But how does that get a 65+ with the wear on the lions' heads? Does the number of minted coins (obviously very low in this case) also impact the grade? Don't mean to be negative about it but genuinely curious how the grading works for such coins.
  7. Thank you for the tag - you know me well @James32! SilverCrane is a gent and I've been super happy with our previous transactions. He manages to source some really interesting world coins but this one is beyond my pay grade unfortunately.
  8. Exactly! I bought my first 1kg bar in 2011. It's basically the same price today so hasn't even been a good store of value
  9. Received this rare 1/2 Escudo today. Poor thing has taken a good battering over the years but must undoubtedly have an interesting history! You should see some images of how it's supposed to look here: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces44667.html
  10. I thought the same, and also noticed there's not much wear on her hair. I've been comparing it to other AU 55s like this one and I'm left perplexed. I don't understand how they have the same grade.
  11. I used a potato to photograph this so it's doing the coin no favours. Received this morning and personally feel it might be undergraded.
  12. Looks like they also used A.I. to generate her squid hand!
  13. You know you're gonna get folks showing you 'sold for' prices on eBay now.. prepare for more friction wounds!
  14. Low ball offer, you say? I'd quite like a 5 sov (not fussy which!) if you'd accept some home-made scratchings and a couple of jars of my missus' strawberry jam from last year (organic). Just joking. Wish you all the best with the sales and house purchase!
  15. I feel like buying something but I've never even liked Pistrucci's George & The Dragon - much prefer shield designs so I'm definitely out on this one.
  16. I received this commie banger from @SilverCrane today!
  17. Not surprised. You handed someone a cracking deal there (and not for the first time given that silver set you posted a couple of weeks ago). 👍
  18. It's a bargain to be fair! Ideal for anyone with an interest in world gold or just starting a collection. Tempted myself but I like them a bit bigger.
  19. I'm happy to pre-order it from you in that case 👍
  20. I'd wager so if PCGS have made such a grave error. It hardly instils confidence, does it? I'm not saying I'd want this, but I am curious if they could be held legally accountable for mislabelling such a coin when the price difference is so significant. If there's no accountability then one could argue that it'd be a great way to run a scam - especially if it isn't a one off.
  21. Glad to report that my bar finally arrived and to my surprise, it's the correct one! (Little Treasures) Not sure I'll be ordering from the RM again
  22. Yep, still waiting for one of my bars. I was promised "early 2024" by the head of their customer services department. I was told that before Christmas. There's been no update since. I'm guessing they would accept if I asked them to cancel it which is why they probably don't feel too much pressure to fulfil the order but I can't imagine many other businesses operating like this. At this point, I'm sort of intrigued to finally find out when it'll arrive with no further contact from me. Could very well be next Christmas like you said!
