I suspect it's the growing uncertainty now and going forward, banks, governments, all really incl businesses - they all fear and dislike uncertainty;
couple that with many ongoing Gov't treasuries still buying into gold in the hundreds of tons, plus significant private buyers = Gold touched $2150+ briefly today.
If above $2100 becomes assumed to be an established base, we maybe off to the races 👍

On topic. I sold my gold stock today thinking it would have a pull back. Doh  
I got 5% & it was only a grand so no bother. 

Premiums are largely driven on demand/purchase price. If you're buying gold Sovs at say 98% and selling at 3 - 5% over, the gold price is irrelevant for most dealers, and they'll be hedging the transactions on both sides. If demand picks back up however then we could see premiums bounce back to 2020 - 2022 levels. We're not there currently though, it is still very much a buyers market with some great deals available.

...and one should expect many more to follow ere long.
