As i get sucked more and more into this addictive hobby i always try to think of ways i can improve my own experience. One thing i couldn't find was a solid price history tracker with a simple UX/UI.

acsearch and Coinarchive are both very comprehensive but lack good UI and search features.

It's very early pre-beta testing, so very limited coins and data sources, but already interesting to see the pricing history!

If anyone knows of other data sources please let me know below or PM.

The goal is to build this to a portfolio tracker with value of a collection, and changes, increase/decrease, based on current/historical market.

But a LONG way to go for that - will lilkly also only do Sovereigns initially, starting with graded only, etc. but any suggestions of coin listing strategy based on popularity also welcome.

We are testing with just special year modern sovereigns

Very good point, and I would add the memorial sovereigns are a bit different - QB was a stand-alone series so it only has its own brand to gather and maintain collector interest, it's actually incredible how well it's done despite that. While the memorials are the opposite side of the spectrum being part of, arguably, the most collected gold coin series on the planet, sovereigns, AND being the very last one of Queen Elizabeth. I'd say this doing better in the future is almost a certainty, just a matter of time!
