  1. I think the flippers will flip these, these will sell out eventually and the Royal Mint hasn't priced them so high that the scalpers can't make a profit off them. They will just make less money per coin and have to wait a bit longer to see a profit. Unlimited mintage would of put a stop to a lot of that behaviour though!
  2. I would only consider:- 5 coin proof set 1 sovereign proof As the 5sov and 1sov are the most popular sizes when it comes to sovereigns. All the special reverse sovereigns are selling for more than their release price, I guess there's no guarantee that will always be the case in the future.
  3. The QEII sovereign was £585 at release, and BBP are saying the total mintage for the 1sov is 23,160 even more than I thought.
  4. They've killed the total 1 sovereign mintage, it was 12,700 for the QEII jubilee, for Charles it is 20,950. And why is this dated 2022? So another special reverse for 2023? It's being milked way more than I was expecting, I've really got to think long and hard about whether I should continue purchasing these!
  5. It says on the website 15th November 9am, bit weird as that is a Tuesday.
  6. Looks like a good start to me! I'm pretty sure if I was ever to do something like that whatever I produced would be unrecognisable 😀
  7. I think it will be just as popular if not more popular than the 2022. Special reverse on a sovereign by itself makes people go crazy, but it also has the first obverse of Charles on the number one British collector's coin. I can see it selling out just as fast as the 2022, secondary market prices going up straight away, flippers out in full force. I want one and I'm going to try to get one on release day but I'm certainly going to avoid paying the secondary market prices. There's going to be a load more coronation coin sets released next year for sure.
  8. Basically, the same as the royal coat of arms used on the platinum jubilee sovereign but the crown is different on Charlie boy's version of it, hardly any noticeable difference really. Whoever is designing the new coin will interpret it differently and hopefully we won't get two sovereigns in a row that look near enough identical.
  9. That's nice, go big or go home 😀 I've always fancied owning a 1000oz good delivery silver bar!
  10. No plans to bring any of the metals back to earth, so they just randomly chose that asteroid and it just happened to have a ton of gold and platinum in it 😀 I read recently that NASA were firing missiles at asteroids to see if they can divert their path to stop another dinosaur extinction event from happening, they could always use that technique to divert this one closer to earth. If that amount of gold did end up on earth wouldn't it basically turn golds value into something similar to tin or aluminum.
  11. The battle of waterloo medal is a good shout, in my mind it would be a crying shame not to start with the George and Dragon broken spear if they were to do Pistrucci's work.
  12. I'm not seeing the resemblance myself, if that did happen at least Meghan wasn't on the scene, what an eye sore that would be 😀 I think the Royal Mint could re-do the 2001 and 2003 proof Britannia's, I don't think they work with one side being a matte finish and the other side being proof. Really nice coin designs and subject matter though.
  13. In reality the saying is probably about as worthless as the term legal tender. In some ways I'd probably miss all these little idiosyncrasies we have with our money if we went over to a digital currency, someone slipping in a foreign coin in to your change or seeing the queen's portrait every day 😀
  14. This guy is selling 22 of those SYO memorial 50p coins and they were only released the other day:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/boselectacoins147 That's Del Boy Trotter levels of flipping 😀
  15. Ah I didn't realise it had changed! I think they are limited to one SYO per person per day to stop people from cashing in on them, so I guess the dealer must have sent his extended family to Wales last weekend to build up his stock 😀
  16. I think the current RM experience SYO coin is Winnie the Pooh and friends 50p with QEII on the obverse? That Charles obverse SYO doesn't sound legit to me. I know with those SYO coins you can flip them on ebay and basically get the price of admission into the RM experience covered.
  17. I guess that is the problem the RM face, there's so many to choose from, they could produce a few more Wyon coins and they haven't even started with the Pistrucci designs yet. I always thought the intention was to show case the engravers work, so it was really about the engravers themselves. On top of that they're probably the best re-strikes you are going to get from ridiculously priced and hard to come by originals.
  18. Have they have employed Stevie Wonder in the QC department? 😀 It's a shame because the design doesn't look too bad to me.
  19. After ebay stopped using paypal there is very little use for it nowadays.
  20. That's a good point, because although the Rocking Horse crown is really well known the designer didn't really do a lot else with the Royal Mint. You probably would expect that for them to be a great engraver they should have done a few good coins for the RM.
  21. I'm sure they've already thought of that 😀 No doubt they will soon announce the British Monarchs set going up from 21 coins to 22 to complete the run with Charlie boy added to the end it.
  22. I've always wondered whether they could re-release these coins again with new mintage figures seeing as the obverse will have to change due to the queens passing and Charlie boy taking over. The queen was around for so long that the RM wouldn't of had the opportunity to do it before.
  23. Hey you laugh now but all those people who paid millions for those bored ape NFTs will soon be millionaires in someone else's made up digital currency 😀
  24. Will gold still be a thing in 2024? Surely we will all be living in the metaverse praising the almighty bitcoin instead of the almighty dollar 😀 Unless they start introducing more Jubilees and have the Kings Paper Jubilee you'd imagine it will be the normal George and the Dragon reverse.
  25. G&D design is my preference as well, good luck trying to get hold of the original 1910 pattern or 1935 gold crowns, I'm sure many collectors wouldn't complain about a RM re-issue of those. Also I hope they avoid the two coin set approach they took with the gothic crown, I understand it was a coin where both sides were classics but the way they went about it didn't seem very fair on the collectors.
